I don’t like her politics, but I love Linda Ronstadt’s music. Other than that, this popular longstanding thread is a place to show our appreciation and support for our military and veterans. It’s not for political debate and definitely not for flames. Thanks.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HAROLD ARLEN
A STAR IS BORN
The years after 1948 were a disappointment for Harold. A series of failed movies and lackluster songs plagued his career. Then came success.
The basic idea had started in 1932 as What Price Hollywood? In 1937 it was revamped as a vehicle for Janet Gaynor and Frederic March, and re-titled A Star is Born. Now it was to be revamped as a musical for Judy Garland and James Mason. The two subsequent remakes in 1976 and 2018 were also musicals.
In 1952 Ira Gershwin came on board as lyricist, which permitted the final contract to be signed. It was Harolds first collaboration with Ira since they had written the score for Life Begins at 8:40" in 1934. Judy Garland, who had been absent from film for four years, was to star in the hope that it would serve as her comeback. As Judy would handle all the singing, except for some incidental choral work, the songs were naturally projected with her in mind.
The film opened in New York in October 1954 and was hailed as one of the greatest heartbreak dramas that has drenched the screen in years. It further stated that the composers had given Judy six good songs.
GOTTA HAVE ME GO WITH YOU
This is what it looked like in the movie. James Mason, as the drunken Norman Maine, almost wrecks the routine. Judy is magnificent.

Didn't see this one on the thread yet...
"Back In The USA" - Linda Ronstadt & Chuck Berry
And, on a slightly different topic, I'm thinking maybe we can use this song at one of those rallies...

Good evening, Hillarys Gate Cult...I really like some of the “roots” songs....her voice was really good.
I wonder if some of that weight gain had to do with her declining health...I don’t know the history.

You know she is a flaming liberal. Sheriff Joe Arpaio tells the story that she was involved in a huge protest against him and in return, he blasted her music over their protest. LOL.
