This Minnesota Town Just Scrapped The Pledge Of Allegiance.

The cancer of political correctness has reared its ugly head once again. This time the plague struck a Minnesota town, where the local council voted unanimously to drop the pledge of allegiance to be more inclusive. St. Louis Park wants to be more welcoming to newcomers and non-citizens and they decided the best way to do that was to trash a hallmark tradition. To be more welcoming to non-citizens, Americans just need to…not act like Americans. It’s this nonsense that gives me hope, along with the booming economy, that Trump will easily clinch a second term. It’s also partially why he won in 2016. This is silly season. Liberal America is perpetually in silly season and just cannot get out of its own way. Who in the hell thought this was a good idea? Everyone on this council deserves to be dealt with the old fashioned way by means of tarring and feathering. Okay—that’s a bit much, but you get my point. It’s once again another event where you see how the Left hates America. This council of five is now the St. Louis Park Director of Idiots (via KIMT3 News):

The city council in St. Louis Park, Minn. voted 5-0 last month to drop the Pledge of Allegiance from their meetings, in an effort to be more inclusive to new residents and non-citizens.

[…]

St. Louis Park is about 90 miles from Rochester. However, in the land of the free and home of the brave, it’s a story many people have strong opinions about.

[…]

They’re words intended to remind us of who we are and committed to memory for generations.

“It's something that we used to do in school like every morning before first period started,” Larisa Garcia, of Rochester, said, “whether it was elementary, middle school.”

You might take them for granted unless you weren’t permitted to say them anymore.

“I don't know why it would be removed,” Scott Ramey, of Faribault, said. “It'd be like cutting our flag poles down.”

Uproar at Monday night’s city council meeting in St. Louis Park caused the council to rethink.

Yes, they should. And reverse this decision as quickly as possible. St. Louis Park is located in Minnesota’s 5thcongressional directs represented by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who is one of the most ungrateful refugees this country has ever taken in, spreading anti-Semitic trash on the Hill and pretty much rooting against our troops while discussing the Mogadishu raid famously captured in the book and film Black Hawk Down. She also refused to condemn the terrorist who committed the 9/11 attacks, trivializing the event as one where “some people did something.” Yeah, I’m just shocked liberals peddling trash proposals are running rampant in Omar’s district. The uproar has caused the mayor to suggest reversing Pledge of Allegiance ban, saying it was hastily passed without much consideration. Uh, you think, man (via Fox News):

Hey, I have been reciting that Pledge for a long time and I know how our language works. I took a much stronger Oath of Office, and was proud to do so. I will not die for a flag, and I have no allegiance to a piece of cloth. I respect the flag, and will always treat it with honor; but, I will not take a bullet to protect one. I will do anything to protect the Nation and the Constitution and the People.

Rather than insult me, just think this. Would you actually die for a flag used as bait for a sniper? Do you take that Pledge that seriously, or do you merely recite it? So, how do you give allegiance to a flag?

allegiance: loyalty or commitment of a subordinate to a superior or of an individual to a group or cause

Notice that a flag is neither a group or cause.

Didn’t you even notice that I advocate something stronger?

You insult me.

Sorry, snowflake. If we were in Starbucks you could have me thrown out.

Too bad you cannot seem to understand symbolism and insist on believing that the pledge of allegiance is "dying for a piece of cloth". This country was a better place when everybody recited the pledge.

Your priorities would get people needlessly killed. I respect life, to hell with symbols.

...Sorry, snowflake. If we were in Starbucks...

So, I discuss issues and you chose lame insults somehow involving Starbucks. You are the obvious leftist snowflake. Your method of discourse is clearly liberal.

I know you have reading deficiencies, so please reread my posts in their entirety.

You weren't insulted; merely corrected.

Yes; I did.

And it required no correction.

The correction was not warranted. I said what I mean, and mean what I say. Perhaps you and I disagree on the term "allegiance". To my way of thinking, allegiance is never applied to objects. It can be given to ideals, a cause, and people.

Now, that being said, please understand that I hold the flag in honor and will always treat it with the respect it is due. On the other hand, I would never order men into danger to retrieve one, but I sure would to retrieve another man or for the cause of protecting our Nation or Constitutional rule.

Can you live with that explanation?

Yes; I can.

This way of communicating with each other leaves much to be desired.

I can now see where you are coming from.

Peace; Brother.

I was blessed to go to West Point this May to see my grandson graduate.

His other grandpa was in a wheelchair and my wife and I were with him in a large room high above the field with other handicapped folks.

They got front row seats at the floor to ceiling windows, while we able bodied folk were behind them.

When the colors came by and the anthem was sung; everyone one of them that were capable; stood from their chairs, some struggling to make it while others helped.

It humbled me.
