Prince William has said he would "fully support" his children if they were gay, but admitted he would "worry" about the added pressures they would face.
It was something he had thought about since becoming a parent, he said.
"I wish we lived in a world where it's really normal and cool, but particularly for my family, and the position that we are in, that's the bit I am nervous about," he said.
The duke was speaking to young people at a LGBT youth charity in London.
The Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT) supports LGBT young people who are at risk of homelessness.
The duke said he backed "whatever decisions" his children made, but added: "It does worry me from a parent point of view.
"How many barriers you know, hateful words, persecution, all that and discrimination that might come, that's the bit that really troubles me.
"But that's for all of us to try and help correct and make sure we can put that to the past and not come back to that sort of stuff."

This is a huge moment for LGBT people around the world.
For a member of the British Royal Family to give such an endorsement to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights, and their fight for equality, is a big deal, especially in a time when the visibility of LGBT people is being continually questioned.
However, with the Duke of Cambridge being a figurehead for the Royal Family as well as the Commonwealth, it is also worth remembering that homosexual activity is still a criminal offence in 35 of the 53 Commonwealth nations - and it is only legal in 18.
Many will now be wondering whether Prince William's words could have a positive impact on these places,

I wouldn’t “fully support” my kids if they announced they were gay. Not unless you count telling them they need to repent and turn to God as fully supporting them. I got my degree in Biology. I keep thinking about mammals, and find the idea of a male mammal sticking its penis into another male’s butt as “weird”. Even apart from what the Bible says God thinks of it.
I think that Konrad Lorenz, the ‘father of ethology’, stated that other than man, there are no homosexual animals.
However, there are animals which exhibit bisexual behavior when something has gone wrong in their social order or development.
Some animals other than man DO, sometimes, try to mate with others of their own sex.

I can think of abnormal situations, where a lot of one sex are all that is available, where homosexual behavior happens. But as a rule, if a stallion has a choice between another stallion and a mare, he chooses the mare.
Of course, most mammals mate to create offspring. It isn’t a prudent lion who tries to take a lioness out of season. I had a mare bred to a stallion. He was an experienced sort and waited until the mare went, in a few days, from “Hell no!” to “Hi sailor! Looking for a good time?”

As I’ve said before, some of my oldest, still-living relatives are British, and every last one of them would *NEVER* utter the word “Israel” in the context of the modern nation unless absolutely forced to. Until the day they die, it will ALWAYS be “Palestine”, full-stop, end of story.
WRT humans, ‘abnormal situations’ are rife, these days.
There have been a couple of studies which have suggested that exposure to synthetics - like DES - appear to have caused a statistically significant rise in, at least, female bisexuality/homosexuality. Enough to have warranted further study.
And we’ve been exposed to MANY weird, unnatural substances in recent decades - not to mention poor parenting and dysfunctional families (which have been with us forever.)
I think there’s a lot more going on when it comes to homosexuality than simple, perverse will on the part of the person who ‘swings’ that way.
I can see why many people may think that they were ‘born this way’.
