Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore is set to announce his plans for the 2020 Alabama senate race on Thursday at 2 p.m. at The Ballroom in Montgomery.
Moore lost the U.S. Senate race in 2017 amid allegations of sexual misconduct with teenagers. Moore denied the allegations. President Donald Trump last month tweeted that Moore cannot win and said Republicans need to retake the seat in the once reliable red state. Democratic Sen. Doug Jones currently holds the position.
The event is open to invited guests and credentialed press.
Dear God, no. Go away Roy.
We need that Senate seat. We need to take away a rubber stamp vote for Chuck Schumer which is all Doug Jones is. No Moore. Nominate damn near anybody else so they can represent Alabama - not the northeastern Democrat Party machine.
Sorry, who is “we”? The Richard Shelby open borders agenda GOP? In case you didn’t notice it was Shelby who stabbed POTUS in the back on the last immigration bill negotiation. It wasn’t Roy Moore who did that.
You know what also disappeared after Moore lost the election? His promise to sue all his accusers for slander. Why is that, do you think?
His views are aligned with the majority(?) of voters in Alabama it would seem.
Apparently not, since a majority of Alabama voters went against him last time around.
The problem is the GOP establishment prefers progressives to conservatives. The party could have easily pulled a mediocre candidate like Moore across the line in ALABAMA. Dems do that all the time. The GOP didn’t do that because they preferred Jones on policy. Immigration, Obamacare, etc. It’s that simple.
That people voted against him has sod-all to do with whether his views are aligned with those of the voters...
That’s the point I’m making. The man was skewered by nominal conservatives and was LIED into a defeat.
As I muttered to myself earlier;
The people want Barrabus..
“his is a Sheriff Joe moment on his part.”
AMEN! If he is innocent and wonderful, let him seek his reward in heaven! Here on earth, he’s damaged goods that won’t sell, and the rest of the country cannot afford the loss!
As long as Alabama’s Senate seat is winnable, Roy Moore should not be nominated. I too felt the accusations were over the top, but the fact remains he’s damaged goods. Alabama voters said in 2017 they didn’t want him, and even went to the point of electing a liberal democrat to show it.
We have a bigger fight than Roy Moore “proving something.” We need the damned seat. That is the bottom line.
Did you not see his interview with Hannity in 2017? Hannity lobbed softball questions at him all night and he whiffed miserably. He failed badly in his own defense.
Is Roy Moore retarded? Asking for a friend.
Well, the way I see it, he's not articulate, meaning he was unprepared. Both stemming from his lack of interest. Why the lack of interest? He thought he could walk into the job because he's a Republican. He lost because the Republicans weren't interested in voting for a person so unprepared for the job. And he's repeating the same mistake.
I don't know for sure but I would assume not. He's just an arrogant idiot.
He's a lightning rod for liberals. Yes we have to fight them but giving them an easy target, someone who's already been severely damaged by the press, won't help our cause. Sadly, the Judge is a casualty of war like Sarah Palin but war's not pretty.
I do not live there either, but I was born there, and have relatives there. As the election loomed, I said to my sister "you're voting for Roy Moore, right?". She said "are you serious?". I said "you can't vote for the 'rat candidate!". She was actually not going to vote at all. I don't know for sure if she did. She regarded him as a grand-standing caricature. A lot of people in Alabama probably see him that way.
What people like you can't seem to get is that it does not matter if the dirt they threw at Moore was phony. IT STUCK. It may not have been fair, but it stuck. No, we aren't hearing about it now, but when he throws his (cowboy) hat into the ring, Gloria Alred will be there with several weepy victims, and it'll be the same thing all over again.
Sarah Palin didn't really say "I can see Russia from my house!", but Tina Fey did when she played Palin in a skit, and everybody thought Palin had actually said it. Palin is over now as a political force. Wasn't fair, but it's what it is.
Compare and contrast with Trump, people say all kinds of bad things about him, but it all slides off. Why? Because Trump is always on the offensive.
That’s a lesson every candidate needs to learn.
I voted for Moore in the Primary last time around. I WILL NOT be voting for him this time.
Yes, the charges were lies, and yes, the GOP abandoned him -- but beyond that Moore is an ABYSMAL Campaigner, and a poor candidate. If he were a better campaigner he might be an option, but he is one of the worst candidates overall and will lose to Jones again.
That cannot be allowed to happen. I am hoping Mo Brooks changes his mind and runs. I would also vote for Sessions happily. Strange would be a "hold your nose" vote against Jones.
And he still lost! Why? Because he is just as much of a sexual degenerate as Biden with half the charisma. If you don't think the Soros long knives won't be coming back out, or that he'll get the Al Frankenstein treatment even if he got elected, you are wrong.
Moore was identified with pro-religious positions, so he was more vulnerable when accused of misbehavior. And admitting to dating teenagers when he was in his thirties didn't help his case.
Yup.
AGE...
73 next Feb...
and age matters...
give me a break, he is so lazy ...sad to even hear him speak..slow and dumb sounding...
