Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore is set to announce his plans for the 2020 Alabama senate race on Thursday at 2 p.m. at The Ballroom in Montgomery.
Moore lost the U.S. Senate race in 2017 amid allegations of sexual misconduct with teenagers. Moore denied the allegations. President Donald Trump last month tweeted that Moore cannot win and said Republicans need to retake the seat in the once reliable red state. Democratic Sen. Doug Jones currently holds the position.
The event is open to invited guests and credentialed press.
You mean that picture of him all cowboyed up and riding that horse didnt get your blood pumping to vote for him ? Looked like Roy could go on a diet and get a bigger horse too.
Good grief. Were talking Alabama not Michigan. There is no outcome in Alabama that results in losing as good or well.
By losing a statewide election for federal office in Alabama as the GOP candidate? Are you mental?
I would like to see some new blood.
I'd also like to see 60 Republican Senators and Repubs taking back the house.
There's nothing wrong with what he did. That seat should have been a safe GOP seat for the next 25+ years.
The Alabama Republican Party fouled up the whole succession process about as badly as you can -- first by allowing the appointment of a replacement for Sessions who had serious legal/ethical issues, then by calling a special election in 2017 when Luther Strange could have been permitted under Alabama law to stay there for the remainder of Sessions' term in office.
Enough already.
This is a Sheriff Joe moment on his part. Mo Brooks has made it clear he dose not want to run against Moore, but would otherwise run (and easily win).
Moore left home 685,000 Rs in 2018. Just one year earlier, Shelby won by 685,000. Moore must be knocked out early or it’s Senator Jones, reelected.
he always asked their mothers first!!! / s
Very good points. Who else is running in this primary?
The problem is less the electorate than finding a candidate to oppose him. Baris tells me for some reason Mo Brooks does NOT want to run in a primary against Moore. So as long as Moore is in, Brooks (by far our best statewide candidate) is out.
Moore is horrible. Anyone who so turns off the electorate that they leave 685,000 R voters home should be immediately disqualified. A walking disaster.
Not “may be.” He is the only R who would lose to Jones. Clearly someone in the Soros camp is behind Moore.
We need that Senate seat. We need to take away a rubber stamp vote for Chuck Schumer which is all Doug Jones is. No Moore. Nominate damn near anybody else so they can represent Alabama - not the northeastern Democrat Party machine.
I understand that, but even if the other Republican is a little-known state legislator, that person would still be preferable to Roy Moore. Moore is about the only Republican that can give Doug Jones a full six-year Senate term, he already proved that in 2017.
ROY MAY BE A GOOD CONSERVATIVE, BUT HE DOES NOT HAVE THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO WIN AN ELECTION..
Moore would have won had the GOP not aggressively campaigned for liberal Doug Jones. It seems the GOP prefers progressives like Jones to conservatives like Moore.
Cuz he dates underage girls??
Does he think Guam will tip over?
It’s great to see that the level of thought here at FR has leveled out at “The Voice”...
So far, I see that Judge Moore is a “poor candidate” because he doesn’t talk out both sides of his mouth; is a stupid loser because the GOPe threw their support behind the Democrat in the last election cycle; That the false accusations against him in the last cycle (am I the only one who noticed that all of that seemed to disappear once he was defeated in the election?) disqualify him from running...
His views are aligned with the majority(?) of voters in Alabama it would seem. And since the office he’s running for is to represent those voters in the Senate, I’m not sure how his being a poor interview subject is relevant...
Roy Moore has been smeared by the leftists AND the surrender faction of the GOP, as clearly indicated by your collective responses....
I don’t vote in Alabama. If I did, Roy Moore would get my vote.
The people want Barrabas.
Again?
Lets hope for his sake there are no Army Navy games that might interfere.
