Play: U.S. Navy photo courtesy of Northrop Grumman by Bob Brown Watch: More troops to head to Mideast as Iran tensions rise
In a major provocation, Iran shot down an unarmed and unmanned U.S. Navy MQ-4C Triton drone while it was flying in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz Thursday, a U.S. official told ABC News.
The incident is sure to trigger serious discussions within the Trump administration about how to respond to a direct attack on a U.S. military asset that goes beyond recent attacks in the Middle East that the U.S. has blamed on Iran.

Gen. Hossein Salami, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, offered a strongly worded threat to the U.S. after the drone was downed.
"Shooting down the American spy drone had a clear, decisive, firm and accurate message," he said, translated from Farsi. "The message is that the guardians of the borders of Islamic Iran will decisively respond to the violation of any stranger to this land. The only solution for the enemies is to respect the territorial integrity and national interests of Iran."
"We do not intend to engage in war with any country, but we are completely ready for the war. Today's incident is a clear sign of this accurate message," Salami added.

The U.S. Navy MQ-4C Triton was shot down by an Iranian surface to air missile while the reconnaissance drone was flying in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, a U.S. official told ABC News.

Does that apply to Israel?
Cue the FR pearl clutchers and shrieking dems who suddenly give a rats as* about troops in body bags.
Not gonna be a shooting war; get to your fainting couches and dont worry about it.
Not sleeping.
They are our allies
Religious bigotry is not part of the equation
It is not a permanent thing. Period.
Ideally, collapsing them from within.
The Iranian people despise the mullahs. BO turned his back on them when the young people begged for even the smallest show of supporteven just a mention in a speech.
The resistance is strong and ready. I like to believe we have assets on the ground waiting for the Go signal.
Never forget dear Neda.
Does what apply to Israel?
Please clap.
Where’s the drone and map of area in question graphics? Bo I ain’t gonna click on any alphabet swill mill propaganda fake news source.
Then let the Saudis fight their own stupid wars. We sell them plenty of military hardware to do the job.
For all of you... Enough from the antiwar crowd. Trump’s diplomacy has centered precisely on Iran. He has set the war in motion. N.Korea and VN are being peaked off and Iran is isolated
Our working as mercenaries for the Saudis could be seen as the same for Israel. I don’t see a comparison but both countries benefit from Iran being neutered. We’re the only country that can do it. Believe me,I don’t want a war. I already went through the stress of having a son fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. But these mullahs are a threat. If there was some action I would hope that Trump would continue to seal the border.
What war? As I said, we have to empower the Iranian people to overthrow the Mullahs.
Having seen what war does to a country for the last 18 years, I doubt the younger generation of Iranians want any part of a war with the US. They get to leave the country and live outside of it. Away from the clerics. They know how the rest of the world operates. Go on Instagram and look up, The Rich Kids of Tehran, see the life they’re living.
War brings all of that to an end. Only 2 countries in the world have the ability to project their power to the US mainland. And even those are kind of shaky when the rubber meets the road.
Iran will be destroyed. And I’ll go on record that with this CINC, it won’t be surgical strikes here and there, because we’re going to go in and rebuild it for them. It’ll be more, or at least I’m hoping, more along the lines of WW2 leadership which was total devastation until surrender.
Perhaps the Christians In Action are getting ready to stir up some protests and kick that pig again. We all know there was a chance under the previous admin but he was in line with the clerics, not the people.
And they have some absolutely fantastic looking women.
And yet the U.S. hasn't done so much as send them a strong letter of rebuke.
There is a huge danger to this country when we allow foreign governments to establish lobbying arms right here in Washington, D.C. There shouldn't even need to be an explanation for why that's the case.
When the Saudi government donated a million dollars to the John McCain Institute at the Arizona State University, does anyone here really believe they did this out of the goodness of their hearts?
You are right on this one. Let the french fight for their own gas pipelines in iran.
I do think 10 thousand illegals entering every month is more unpopular than a war. 10k free bus and plane tickets. 10 thousand taxpayer paid vacations and health care. Not you or your kids... non citizens.
There will not be a war with Iran. Some CIA person somehow is tied in with somebody in the Drone program and had to know where that drone was so Iran could shoot it down. I’m absolutely sure the CIA was involved in that. There are still so many swamp creatures left to eliminate. The President Trump will not go to war with Iran. This is all done as a Black Flag incident to distract pool whole numbers down which of course are fake anyway. It’s made to suppress your vote. That’s the macro view. The micro View and it’s also supposed to suppress the G20 meeting and probably some very positive things that come out from that so you won’t notice. We are not that stupid so don’t participate in stupidity.
See Venezuela for an example of how this has worked in the very recent past.
This is a pretty sophisticated drone.
If memory serves it uses one of the same engines that the Citation X business jet uses.
