Moroccan lawmakers have unanimously approved a bill that confirms the Berber language’s official status, eight years after it was preliminarily recognized in a new constitution.
The new law is designed to cement use of Berber – alongside Arabic – by government administration, local authorities, public services, schools and in cultural life.

Interesting. It is thankfully also a good place to utilize French
One of the most notable consequences of giving the language official status has been the appearance of the Berbers Tifinagh alphabet on public buildings, alongside Arabic and French.

Is is possible the Berbers are descendants of the old punic Carthaginian population?
A lot of peoples have crossed North Africa, including (German) Vandals. But where do the Berbers come from?
I think the Berbers have been there for at least 10,000 years. They would have possibly absorbed the Germanic Vandals and the Phoenician settlers.
Berbers are the original inhabitants - read about Jugurtha and Numidians, etc.
Their language is another branch of the Afro-Asiatic languages - which include Egyptian and the Semitic languages (incl Arabic and Hebrew).
The Germanic Vandals didn’t leave much traces genetically as they settled as mostly rulers of the cities (which were themselves mostly Punic and Greek with Romans). The Arabs added to that mix. But the locals outside the cities remained Berbers
Berbers also didn’t take well to Islam at first.
I have read they still have some “peculiar notions” regarding Islam.
The move by Morocco is probably just a skillful attempt at keeping the Berber population of so-called Western Sahara divided from the Arab population of so-called Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), which was set up by the Algerian proxy terrorist group, the Polisario Front. Berbers are not Arabs, but they're not really much of anything, being spread out over so many polities for so many centuries. I think Khaddafy claimed to be Berber, but he also identified as an Arab when it suited him.
french yea , is this the language of Justin Berber?
