At Least 24 Memphis Police Officers Hurt In Protests After Deadly Shooting

At least 24 Memphis Police Department officers were injured during a large protest Wednesday night, Mayor Jim Strickland says. The violence erupted after officers of the U.S. Marshals Service shot and killed Brandon Webber, 20.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. local time, as officers from the U.S. Marshals Service as part of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force tried to take a man into custody. When the officers approached the man, law enforcement officials said, he was getting into his car in the Frayser community in northern Memphis, Tenn.

I have a good friend who's into classical violin. Unfortunately, tragically there's something wrong with him and his fellow artists: they've never shot up each others' concerts and none has ever been shot, stabbed, or otherwise in the course of an artistic dispute. What's wrong?

After all, this shows how the "minority community" should react when the "racist Marshall's Service" tries to arrest an "innocent yout" for a mere series of "minor mistakes in making life's choices."

This really gets to me since I live in a genuinely gun saturated community, of which I am a major saturator, and not a shot has been fired involving the police in the over 30 years I've been here. Something's very wrong in my community.

I thought that Mayor Strickland was making Memphis safer and more law abiding by removing the statue of NB Forrest and changing the names of Jeff Davis and Confederate park? They also changed the street names of Forrest to Forest for safety and racial harmony.
