Senator Ted Cruz: Why Democrats May Sweep the 2020 Elections
San Angelo Live ^ | Jun. 12, 2019 11:06 am | Joe Hyde

“I’m worried about 2020, I think it’s 50-50. I think it’s a coin flip,” said Ted Cruz, the Republican U.S. Senator from Texas. The 2020 presidential race happens when the country is “deeply divided.” “It is an incredibly polarized country,” he said. “I think it all comes down to turnout.”

“I think the Left is going to show up in massive numbers,” he continued. “And it all comes down to who shows up on the center-right.”

Ted Cruz was on the Ben Shapiro Show Sunday when, 45-minutes into the interview, Shapiro asked Cruz for his assessment of the 2020 election cycle. That is when Cruz warned that the Democrats could sweep both houses of congress and win the presidency. Then they will proceed to perform great harm to the country, he said. […]

“I think the Democrats will nominate someone from the far left,” Cruz predicted. He said one of four declared candidates, between Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, or Elizabeth Warren, will win the Democrat Party nomination to run for president. He gave an outside chance that Pete Buttigieg could emerge in the final four. “He’s stolen some of Beto’s thunder,” he said. […]

“…Every Leftist is going to show up at the polls and they will crawl over broken glass to get there. They hate Donald Trump with a white-hot passion. You’re going to see Democrats in areas where you didn’t know there were any Democrats. They’re going to crawl out of the woodwork,” he said. …

I was first allowed to vote in 1972.I showed up on that day in November. And since then I've never missed a November election.

I am,today, what you could call a "broken glass" voter...meaning I'm willing to crawl over broken glass to get to the polls on Election Day.

But then I live in Massachusetts (the "Gay State") so it could be argued that my votes don't mean much. But I'll still be there.

Folks who live in "swing states" should absolutely be planning to crawl over broken glass next year...if necessary!

“That’s Ted’s lawyerly way of saying they’re gonna cheat”

This cheating needs to be addressed by DJT. Arrests need to be made from 2016-2018 elections.

I’d rather have some concern than to blithely expect to win so easily that one needn’t invest of himself to make it happen...
Take FR for example - Jim is always running hard to the last minute to keep FR funded and we have so many lazy/cheap/FReeloading leeches that there’s no reason for each quarterly fundraiser to take more than a few weeks...our electorate resembles the FR mix (or the other way around)...

Don’t worry Ted. We’ll all just vote our conscience.

The “Beto-bots” seem to have made Cruz pessimistic, and I can understand why. The American people still believe in the false canard of the Democrats “being for the common man.”

Voter fraud will be rampant. Trump needs a huge landslide victory and even then they will cry voter fraud on our side

Cruz is 100% right on this matter. It’s all going to come down to turn out. If the Dens turn them out like they did in ‘08 and ‘12 they will win the house, Senate and WH. That’s not to mention that this new wave of Dems will alter the constitution and, if necessary, alter the Supreme Court so that they can alter the constitution.

Instead of mindless jingoism and knee jerk talking points it would be better to concentrate on voter turnout and getting better conservatives to run in the primaries to defeat these RINOs.

True we won in ‘16 but let’s be honest, we did it by the skin of our teeth and we did not have the popular vote (Please spare me the lectures on how our electoral system work- I am only making the point we need to engage more people into voting for us)If we are to win in ‘20 we need to get more people to the polls and just as important, we need to monitor and expose the Dems dirty tricks. Because as we know, they are dishonest people and they will cheat.(queue in Captain Obvious)

The bigger pointmade by Cruz is that we all need to work hard at the grassroots level. We all know people who feel like we do but they just don’t vote. Venting here or on social media may be therapeutic but it’s not going to get us what we need- more voters in 2020.

, “November 2020 is the most important election in this nations history.”

Yep. But consider, at this point, even a legitimate win by the Dems: Are you going to sit idly by and let people who have demonstrated at best severe delusion and at worst pure Evil run the world?

Wow! You admit that you did not see through Cruz at the time of the 16 primary vote? His globalist, anti-populist beliefs were so obvious with just a tiny investigation. I think we can be sure that Cruz is not a Trumper.

That said, I too worry about Trump's over-nasty tweeting his way to losing in 2020 and taking down many good Republicans with him.

Why oh why can't Trump attack tweet without the off putting personal nastiness. The plain truth is all he needs to tweet.

Truth is, the left WILL turn out for 2020.
The media’s lies has them terrified. We laugh, but they actually believe that nonsense. (Partly because they want to believe it) I am still praying that Trump exposes ALL the shenanigans and we clean the slate well before election time.

Ted didn’t bother campaigning last time which led to Beto rising in popularity so quickly. Seriously, flat out ignored the race. I’m having concerns with Ted not getting in there fighting to save his and other’s seats.

Oh, come on! We always know where the next box of D ballots are going to show up - in the abandoned Pontiac with the dripping tailpipe.

I hope "our" DOJ is preparing some fake dossiers on Joe, Bernie and that Indian woman.

Turn about is fair play.

The 2020 presidential race happens when the country is “deeply divided.”

Cruz certainly knows a thing or two about dividing a base.

My perception is that their LIEberal insanity is costing Democrats huge numbers of votes, but the only way we’ll know if it is a true perception is when the votes are counted.

And, you know the Democrats are GOING TO CHEAT!

BIG TIME!

I hope POTUS is ready to challenge Democrat cheating with all the power and influence he can muster!

Our FRee Republic, (such as it is, given the 24/7 assault by LIEberals of both parties) is utterly dependent on a true vote in 2020 in DJT’s and the REAL — that is to say: TRUE PATRIOTIC — Republican’s favor!

Democrats MUST BE CRUSHED in 2020!

Much fear I sense in this one.

He seems to have the basic facts right:

They hate Donald Trump with a white-hot passion. You’re going to see Democrats in areas where you didn’t know there were any Democrats. They’re going to crawl out of the woodwork...”

Anybody disagree with this one? I've got family members (who are normally apolitical moderates) who hate Mr. Trump. Why? No specifics; it's probably from the constant stream of anti-Trump fake news, left-wing media commentary, and driveby opinion. Heck, my mother (who lived through the Great Depression) recently told me, "This is the worst period in the country's history." Probably heard that (about a million times) from George Stuffinenvelopes.

...it all comes down to turnout...

Anybody disagree with that? Unfortunately, the 'center-right' tends to get complacent, and doesn't turn out. I'll believe the "Anybody But Bernie/Biden/Beto/Buttigieg/Bozo" crowd will actually get off their @sses and vote, AFTER they cast their ballots - just like the last few elections...
