The House of Representatives voted Tuesday to hold Bill Barr and Don McGahn in contempt of Congress.
Both President Donald Trumps attorney general and former White House counsel defied subpoenas from the House Judiciary Committee, and congressional Democrats followed through on threats to hold them in contempt. The lower chamber voted in favor of H. Res. 430 by a margin of 229-191 in what was a party line vote. (RELATED: AG Bill Barr Is Not Worried About His Reputation: Everyone Dies)
Trump administration officials have come under fire for their handling of Special Counsel Robert Muellers report, which concluded that there was no evidence that the presidents campaign colluded with the Russian government. Mueller declined to weigh in on the possibility that Trump obstructed justice over the course of his investigation.
Perhaps no figure other than Trump himself has drawn more ire from Democrats than Barr, who released his own summary of Muellers report, weeks before it was released to the public. (RELATED: The Kremlin Breaks Silence On Mueller Report)
Congressional Democrats have accused Barr of misleading the public in his summary, with some Democratic leaders even calling on Barr to resign. Mueller himself said last month that he believes Barr acted in good faith.
The Attorney General preferred to make the entire report public all at once. We appreciate that the Attorney General made the report largely public, Mueller said at the time. I do not question the Attorney Generals good faith in that decision.
Despite Muellers report, Democrats are continuing to aggressively investigate the Trump administration ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Earlier this week, Democrats rolled in Watergate figure John Dean to testify in front of the Judiciary Committee, a move widely panned by Republicans and Trump, who called Dean a loser.
Dear AG Barr:
Wear it like a badge of Honor.
When the despicable despise you, you’re doing everything right.
Now bring charges and let’s start putting these subversives in Gitmo where they belong.
In other words, Congress is trying to obstruct justice.
Barr does have contempt for congress.
Seem Barr can now file charges against congress for attempting to force violations of law by the AG.
How did Justin Dumbash vote?
List? D yes R no thats it except the folks absent
I have contempt for Congress too.... it should be a t-shirt.
It's confusing to me. The title of H Res 430 has nothing to do with Barr. congress.gov shows no actions today.
At some level deep inside their small reptilian brains, LIBS and other uniparty losers realize that their lives are worthless . This leaves them in perpetual anger and angst. Sucks to be them. I laugh at their perpetual lunacy. HAHAHA.
The Democrat Thug Party.
Somehow I don’t think pissing off Barr is a good move for Democrats.
Being old myself, I know that he is in the give-a-shit stage of life.
Contempt for Holder, impeachment for Clinton.
AMASH voted NAY????
I can’t find a roll call link that makes sense to me.
[There were no Republicans voting Yea.
They all voted, Nay.]
My goodness. I’m shocked.
The count fooled me. Thank you for that information.
Interesting. Please keep me updated!
Next on their agenda.......a ham sandwich.
ROTFL! I have more contempt for Pelosi’s House of Reprobates than Barr and McGahn combined. The lowest life forms on the planet inhabit that sewer on the hill.
