Attorney General William Barr in an interview that aired Friday morning said he has approached the director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, about forming a group of officials to deal with election security issues for the 2020 election and beyond.
In an interview with "CBS This Morning," Barr said that the U.S. efforts to counter efforts by Russia and other governments to meddle in U.S. affairs was becoming "increasingly robust."
"Yes, we do have, I think, an increasingly robust program that is focusing on foreign influence in our election process," Barr told CBS.
"I talked recently to the director of the FBI about putting together a special high-level group to make sure we're totally prepared for the upcoming elections," he added.
During this interview, he also addressed concerns from Democrats about his use of the word "spying" to describe early surveillance efforts against members of the Trump campaign related to the now-shuttered investigation into the Trump campaign and Russian election interference.
Democrats have hammered Barr for his use of the term during a House appropriations subcommittee hearing earlier this year, when Barr said that he believed "spying" did occur targeting the Trump campaign while adding that he did not take a position on its legality. Questions about its legality, he added in the interview airing Friday, remain.
"You know, it is part of the craziness of the modern day that if a president uses a word then all of a sudden it becomes off bounds, it is a perfectly good English word, I will continue to use it," Barr said.
"Like many other people who are familiar with intelligence activities, I had a lot of questions about what was going on," he continued. "I assumed I'd get answers when I went in, and I have not gotten answers that are, well, satisfactory."
Barr has ordered a team of prosecutors to examine the early stages of the Russia investigation and has vowed to determine whether conduct by the FBI and DOJ surrounding the investigation crossed into unethical territory.
His first sit-down interview comes just days after special counsel Robert Mueller resigned from his position at a press conference, declaring the investigation over while adding that he could not exonerate the president of wrongdoing.
Wray is a deep state traitor. Hope he has a stroke.
“prepare” is a euphemism for:
Democrat/Clinton/Comey - evidence galore, let them walk;
Repub/PresTrump/conservatives - no evidence, hang them,
IRS them to death, impeach, then kill all witnesses.
How ‘bout we take care of the illegals’ voting and the dems’ busing people to multiple polls on election day and the soros company which provides the electronic voting machines first?
He couldn't exonerate President Trump for what he didn't do? I guess that's some fancy new kind of legal standard....

Wray seems to be a clone of Jeff Sessions. Maybe Wray is simply in way over his head. He doesn’t seem to understand what’s going on.
Once Barr forensically determines that the entire Mueller Tree was poison, the fruits of that tree will disintegrate before our eyes, and many cases will become moot/dismissed/pulled. A quick pivot can then facilitate prosecutions of the coup d’etat conspirators. Let’s speed up the clock so it is completed before November 2020.

Exactly. Russia is not a serious problem here.
US election officials who destroy ballots or find ballots as needed are the problem. Illegal immigrants voting is the problem. Dead people voting is the problem. We need serious reform. Focusing on Russia just makes sure we don’t get what we need.

Put the FBI in charge of making sure the 2020 elections are secure?
That would be like putting Bill Clinton in charge of a school for teenage girls.
That would be like electing a member of Hamas as prime minister of Israel.
Sheesh.
Why doesn’t Barr make sure the elections are safe from illegal aliens voting? Or ending democrats ballot harvesting and early voting shenanigans? And instituting Voter ID? Work on that if you want to safeguard the election in 2020.
Let’s fix the system so that Trump or anybody like him ever wins again.

Funny. Obama told the FBI to be totally prepared for the elections in 2016 - by whitewashing Hillary’s crimes and ginning up false charges against Trump.
Sessions was a deep state plant POS. Wray is too. Not incompetent. Pure evil scum. They hate this country and the constitution.
I'm sure that every Democrat voter will be on board with Trump's team paying for falsified information from foreign agents, and using that false information to get wiretap authority to place wiretaps on every Biden family phone, to monitor whether Ukraine and China are having undue influence on the Bidens and our election... right?
Voting fraud is apparently the perfect crime; everyone knows it occurs, yet nobody ever gets arrested & prosecuted. Why wouldn’t we expect it to continue?
