Just hours after President Trump announced he will be imposing 5% tariffs on Mexican imports over illegal immigration, Mexico’s president Lopez Obrador sent Trump a letter begging for a meeting to work toward a solution.
“Mexico’s President Lopez Obrador asks Trump to have U.S. officials meet with the Mexican foreign minister in Washington on Friday to seek a solution that benefits both nations,” Reuters reported.

They already do don’t they? I think the main thing about them is that produce from Mexico is cheaper, but it won’t be with a tariff on it. I don’t trust produce from Mexico so if I buy avocados from there I wash them before I peel them and then again after.
. Most aren’t illegal while in Mexico. Mexico issues short term visas then gets them to its northern border to sneak across or request asylum. It’s a system that must work for Mexico though maybe for cartels.

Mexico is a socialist government.
The tariff impacts their national economy (government budget) by 5%. The GDP of Mexico isn’t just “tied” to the economy...it is the foundation of their national budget. In socialist countries, tariffs are paid by the government, not passed along to consumers.
The government will have to raise taxes to industry, impacting several US based manufacturers.
The US manufacturers will put heavy pressure on Mexico...or, leave.
Trump warned them.

I don’t know why he needs to meet with Trump about the tariffs. It sounded pretty clear to me, stop the invasion of our border and Trump stops the tariffs.

Yeah the corrupt president of Mexico wants to “talk”, President Trump needs to take SERIOUS ACTIONS that will makenable Mexico and its president SQUEAL, BEG and take immediate action to stop the invasion and aiding and abetting the invading illegal alien hordes moving through Mexico.
Until that happens no deal, and President Trump should impose INCREASING the tariffs five percent, EVERY MONTH, until Mexico complies completely.
Until that happens, this is all nothing but “Kabuki theater”.
