Things seem to be moving quickly now. It has been a remarkable few weeks in American history. Momentum is building toward uncovering the distasteful possibility that the targeting of a U.S. presidential campaign was actually a political operation, fostered at the highest levels of government, masquerading as an FBI counterintelligence investigation.
Attorney General William Barr has signaled that his interest in examining the origins of the investigation into the Trump campaign extends beyond whether the FBI operated by the book, as former FBI Director James Comey asserts. Barr also wants to understand the role that the larger intelligence community, or IC, may have played in all of this.
Barr has thrown punches that have left an interesting mix of characters with a standing eight count. Certain eyes around D.C. are a little glassy right now.
Barrs words and actions are telling. First, he raised the concern that the Trump campaign was spied upon. His use of the word spying appears more calculated than casual. The wailing and gnashing of teeth that followed is also telling. The FBI doesnt spy became the sputtering counter-refrain of those trying to mask their nervousness.
Its a fair point thats beside the point. The FBI is charged with acting under strict legal restrictions and court orders. Spying is not a term traditionally associated with those activities.
But it also misses the point Barr appears to be making. The IC does spy; thats what they do. Barr may have been referring less to the FBI and more to the ICs possible murky involvement.
This seems to be validated by Barrs second haymaker in as many weeks: his appointment of a surrogate investigator, U.S. Attorney John Durham. Why would the attorney general add a third investigation to those under way by Department of Justice Inspector General MichaeHorowitz...

Good thinking, Toespi.
As usual it’s impossible to tell what is really going on but clearly something has changed. Throw a rock at a pack of dogs and the one that yelps is the one you hit, but this time around the whole pack is yelping and the rock hasn’t hit yet. That argues a lot of guilty consciences in a place where conscience is hardly a signal characteristic.
Do some research on Feinstein and Shiff, just to get the ball rolling. And there are plenty of others.
First you've heard? Where have you been?

No congressman has been indicted or charged with a crime yet to be arrested for now have they? It would be all over the news. But none that I found.
First you've heard? Where have you been?
I wouldn't call myself "know-it-all".
Now "know-it-most?"?
No congressman has been indicted or charged with a crime yet to be arrested for now have they?
And here's where you make your mistake in logic.
Just because something HASN'T happened, doesn't mean it's NOT GOING to happen.
example (for demonstration purposes):
You: The sun hasn't come up, therefore it will never come up.
Me: The sun hasn't come up , yet I believe that it will.
See the diff?
::inconsolable joy::
....
Peculiar oxymoron.
I like it. I think it has a certain something.
Thanks for clarifying that.
The Hill often gets disparaged as naught but a left-wing site.
While publishing much ‘left-leaning’ content it also publishes a fair bit of ‘right-leaning’ content.
No, that's Fred Haas Nissan in Tomball.
Quit that perpetratin'.
I DID NOT SAY it hasn't happened so therefore it will never happen.
I clearly state it hasn't happened YET.
Anybody can leave out words or put in additional words in order to change the meaning of the sentence, like you did.
"Believing" that these political crooks will be charged and arrested for crimes may also mean that they never will be. Your point goes both ways.
Until I read about some congress critter like Feinstein or Schiff indicted and arrested for crimes, I stand by my original statement that "No congressman has been indicted or charged with a crime YET to be arrested for now have they?
Correct. Just stop acting like because they haven't YET that they never will be or it's impossible.
example: "The sun hasn't come up YET, so it will never come up".
You're having a hard time understanding my point.
Great cover for a LARP, yea?
Maybe. That used to be the slogan for Sterling McCall Toyota
(We have it all - at Sterling McCall!) but then their sales
manager Quintin Quantrill bailed over to Fred Haas Nissan
and took his slogan with him.
Wait..
Quintin Quantrill?
WT actual F?
I knew you were good for somethin'?
Wait'll I tell the fellas.
Apparently. ....
Im continuing to view Barr with healthy skepticism and I desperately hope that I am wrong...
...but every time I read these, I find myself wondering what the hell was wrong with Sessions.
