The Swedish car company Volvo this week shared two similar looking ads on Facebook -- one to their main page and one to their Polish page -- which had one glaring difference.
In the post on their main page, the ad showed two homosexual men holding hands in front of a little girl driving a Volvo toy truck.
The ad copy reads: "Focus on your career, or your family? From now on you can do both at Volvo Cars, because we offer employees within the EMEA region six months of paid parental leave, regardless of gender. Read the full story here: http://bit.ly/2V5cZAY"The comment section was filled with Poles laughing about the difference between the two ads.
According to Google Translate, the top comment reads: "Well done to you that you do not duplicate this sick scheme from the official VOLVO website."
Volvo missed it.
Gay male couples want a boy not a girl.
They are really strange in their interviewing and hiring processes.
A few people from my place with a ton of manufacturing and related experience got through different levels of interviews and stalled out.
I had a recruiter contact me once for a tech job. A bit of a commute. Initially I was being offered what I make now. They later came back with 10K more and I never heard from them again.
If anything I’m looking to find something with a shorter commute with some (hope) work from home.
The sacrifice of appearance is one of the things that makes them good for young people, it communicates that a vehicle is not a toy and not for showing off, it is to get from point A to point B quickly and safely.
I’ve hated Volvo ads since they were pitching that stupid rear-wheel drive wagon as mommy-safe in accidents. The problem is the RWD wagons slid all over icy roads and were frequently in accidents. Fortunately, they terminated that model and decided accident prevention might be more important.
That is odd; good luck with your search!
I agree, but optics are everything here. Look at one of the hybrids that wasn’t selling well (I don’t know much about them); apparently it looked too much like a normal car, so the driver wouldn’t enjoy the praises of other libs because they didn’t know the driver was saving the Earth...
Nothing wrong with where I am now but any hope of advancing died at the end of last year. Just about every middle level IT slot worldwide got eliminated. They are not coming back.
I had a 240 dl station wagon in the 80s.
Never took it out of the box that it came in.
That’s rough; I’ve seen similar contraction in the financial sector (though probably not on that scale). Thank God you’re OK where you are.
When the Muslim takeover is complete, the Swedes will be singing a different tune.
IIRC Colin Powell was a big Volvo fan. Worked on them for a hobby. That told me everything I needed to know about Powell. And Volvo.
I can’t complain but know there is better out there.
For a mere technician, I am generally left to handle things as I see fit, seldom questioned, have a good sized private office, and am treated very well.
I have been in far worse gigs, especially during the time of the wun, and know others in similar jobs who make way less. Most of them have actual degrees and fancy papers, unlike me.
how did that happen??
Oooooooo!
OUCH! That one HURT! (good!)
Gay friendly adds are all around us. My Canadian bank, TD bank, has running ads on their web site that includes one of a Jewish guy and a black guy toasting each other at their wedding.
I complained in a letter and haven’t seen it lately.
The powers that be had a 3rd party study ran and the results were that IT in the organization was bloated and the middle was eliminated.
There are a handful in charge in Europe and everyone else is called a technician.
that happens in health care
Whenever there is money there is middle nursing management
Whenever things are tight nursing management gets collapsed and all the managers are offered nursing positions at nurse salary. Usually nights and weekends.
“Gay friendly adds are all around us.”
Lots of women in hijabs showing up, too (Target, for one). I mean to ask, does this mean the store endorses the concept of women as property, female genital mutilation, child marriage at age nine, etc.?
