Lol. "Director of diversity." My company has diversity initiatives. About 10 years ago now I volunteered to be our local / site "diversity representative." In 10 years I have done exactly nothing nada, zip. No-one has noticed, no-one has said anything. We continue to hire, promote, etc based solely on merit and abilities, not any arbitrary demographics or percentages some idiot has dreamt up. You know what? Our company is doing very well, winning several big contracts. Oddly enough, we also have a fairly diverse workforce with respect to age, gender, and race. How about that!? My Volvo V70 (5-speed manual turbo, 218K miles, turns 22 this year) is probably the best car I've ever owned, but it was built in Belgium pre-Ford Volvo and pre-Chinese Volvo.

Parts are getting to be a problem. Volvo used to encourage long-term ownership, no longer. They dropped maual gearboxes completely in the US years ago. It's not my Volvo company anymore. It hasn't been for years.

According to the CDC, 1.6% of the US population identifies as gay, and I'll go out on a limb and suggest that it's much less than 1.6% that wants to get married and have kids. That's not a huge target market, but I suppose this campaign must be directed at low-information soccer moms.
