Two House Democrats have sent a letter to bar associations in Washington, D.C., and Virginia asking them to open an ethics investigation into Attorney General William Barr.
Democratic Reps. Ted Lieu (Calif.) and Kathleen Rice (N.Y.) wrote to the associations on Thursday, a day after Barr's contentious hearing on Capitol Hill during which he defended his handling of special counsel Robert Mueller's report.
"By deceiving Congress and the American people, who vested their trust in both the Office of the Attorney General and the Department of Justice at large, Attorney General Barr must be subject to a professional review for the sake of the legal profession and the public," the lawmakers wrote.
Lieu and Rice, who are both former prosecutors, invoked rules that prohibit obstruction of another party's access to evidence, making a false statement to a tribunal and engaging in dishonesty or misrepresentation that reflect adversely on a lawyer's fitness to practice law.

The Bar likely has no jurisdiction over the United States Attorney General
True, but has some oversight on his law license and can disbar him.
Asking and getting are two different things,
I hope the bar assoc. have more sense and point out that the Dems accuse, but provided no evidence.
They are desperate to obstruct Barrs investigation.
They’re hoping the very liberal local bar associations will issue one of those pseudo-ponderous “findings” they do for prospective federal judges, where they routinely evaluate conservative jurists as “lacking judicial temperament.”
“rules that prohibit obstruction of another party’s access to evidence (in a trial), making a false statement to a tribunal (in an actual legal proceeding) and engaging in dishonesty or misrepresentation (which he did not) that reflect adversely on a lawyer’s fitness to practice law.”
What baseless BS.
These Dems simply want those organizations to sacrifice all their standards and credibility, just to provide a talking point for Dems.
Good ruck with that, Congressman Rieu.
Talk about a drowning man grasping at straws....
Not much there to buoy these people back up to oxygen. They better sprout some gills, they are WAY under water.
In fact, there is a Flood.
It’s a political appointment.
While a background in law is necessary to do the job, a law license isn’t.
Only way to get rid of him now is resignation or Impeachment
House Democrats are likely to impeach, regardless of the Bar. They need to destroy him before he exposes their crimes
Besides, this is just the rantings of 2 Lunatics from safe seats.
The RATS are flailing away desperately trying to hold off impending doom. They went for the whole ballgame with Russian collusion and failed. Now it’s payback time on them.
This is nothing more than endless investigations to cover the fact that the Democrats have nothing to run on in 2020.
Who or where do We the People go to/ask to investigate Congress reps?
Do you have to ha e a law license to be AG?
There must be evidence and stakeholders in the claim of wrongdoing who will risk their reputations that wrong was committed, else endless, costly and pointless investigations will ensue.
RAT panic. They know they have been caught red handed and they are smearing the man who is about to nail them to minimize the damage.

Agreed, but having a law license is a big deal to lawyers. I have used it as a tool to against parasites (aka lawyers).
But I have found bar associations less than supportive to take action.
Virginia doesnt have a bar association. It has a State Bar, which answers to the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Anyone can file a bar complaint, disgruntled clients do it all the time. This one isnt going to go anywhere as Barr did nothing wrong. This is grandstanding and the media trash want to make this nonsense sound more ominous and news worthy than it actually is.
false complaint punishment?
