As others have said above, there is a decent possibility she may time her resignation to make her seat a primary focus going into the 2020 election.

Thomas is probably going to retire as well although he may wait until after the 2020 election.

If the Trump economy keeps kicking butt and the GOP keeps the Senate he will get two more justices. I don’t wish harm on anyone, but it is not improbable given age and health issues that one of the other three liberal seats will be open in the next 5 years.

Yes, the others give lectures at law schools and speeches before various groups.

Indeed, RBG was doing that up until a year ago, or thereabouts. She was in Rome last May in connection with Loyola University Chicago's study abroad program. There are several blogs (mostly run by law students or professors) that follow activities of the justices.
