A survey conducted by Schoen Consulting in Canada for the Azrieli Foundation and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, also known as the Claims Conference revealed some disturbing data about Holocaust awareness.
75 years after the end of World War II, 54 percent of those surveyed did not know that six million Jews were killed during the Holocaust. 62% of millennials, people born in the 1980s and ’90s, did not know that six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. 22% of millennials haven’t heard or are not sure if they have heard of the Holocaust. An alarming 52% of millennials cannot name even one of the over 40,000 concentration camps and ghettos in Europe during the Holocaust. Nearly one-quarter of all Canadians (23 percent) believe that substantially less than six million Jews were killed (two million or fewer) during the Holocaust, while another near-quarter (24 percent) were unsure of how many were killed.

But, they think they know everything.

Thank you for posting this. I have not seen it, but will make a point to watch it (00:57:00 h) on the net. I read that the credits listed Alfred Hitchcock as 1 of the directors.

I’ve met more than a few millennials, who will flat-out tell you that it “never happened” (based on no actual, solid evidence, of course).
And, of course, neither did the Armenian Genocide or the Holodomir. (rolls eyes)
It is an incomplete film. Large parts of it don’t have narration. But a line at the beginning the narrator says that as British soldiers rolled into the town where the Bergen-Belsen camp was located, they found the place charming, until “they felt a smell”.
The English teacher had the kids read parts of the Diary of Anne Frank at about the same time and I told them that Bergen-Belsen is where Anne and her sister died—only a few weeks before liberation.
To be fair I thought the number was 20 million. What is more alarming to me though is the left in Canada that do not equate their anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian stance with being anti-Semitic. And how many “official” Jews like those at top liberal Jewish organizations, that support limiting free speech.
What many don’t know is what was done to the Gypsies and the Poles. Also that Hitler is treated like a sort of scapegoat for the culpability of the average German. “All Hitler’s fault”, but really the Germans knew quite a lot, and did know most certainly about the marginalization of the Jews.
All they know is that somehow it’s OUR fault.
I learned recently that many NAZI leaders made their way to Egypt, changed their names, and are part of the reason blood libel is spread in the Arab world.
Russians have gone to great lengths to minimize the suffering of Ukrainians during WWII, as well as the Ukraine's contribution to victory.
One Nazi, Otto Skorzeny, actually worked for the Mossad.
And don’t get me started on “Polish Death Camps”, and how many actually believe that the Poles are the ones who were responsible for The Holocaust.
??? Wow, really?
Even today, Poles are not held in high regard in Germany. Neither are Jews for that matter.
Probably more than that died in the gulags.
China takes the cake for the most dead in genocide.
They won’t bother to try to know about that part of history either.
