Union College president David R. Harris penned an op-ed, entitled, A Campus Is Not the Place for Free Speech, in which he argues that it is the role of colleges and universities to filter the conversations on campuses to provide constructive engagement.

Must be satire.
...ilter the conversations on campuses to provide constructive engagement.
Hope she was off campus, she can go speaking freely on the very campus she says there should be no free speech!
Be sad, I fear it’s not.
One suspects that the only speech he approves is that mirroring his own. It’s going to take an awful lot of yard-level informants and university star chambers to get speech to the place he wants it to be. College might be the place for, as he describes it, “constructive engagement,” but it definitely isn’t the place for student to be constantly looking over their shoulders or wondering if their fellow students are school speech rats. Union is now the University of Cuba.
I thought the goal of higher learning was the free exchange of ideas.
Big Ed has become leftist indoctrination, nothing more.
BS - if you can not argue freely and without fear or retribution than these are not learning centers or areas of research but extended indoctrination centers.
This POS probably labels President Trump and the Deplorables
as Nazis.
Want to ruin the future of your children?
Then, send them to Fascist colleges like this one, Union College!
The Church and The Pope had that job before. Then His/Her Royal Gluteous.
Then to hell with it. Oh, and cut off any federal funds.
Free speech, in its purest form, is an exercise in what is achieved when a person yells a view and then leaves, after which someone with an opposing perspective does the same states the college president, The speakers do not grow as a result of the experience, and the audience has no opportunity to probe the opposing points of view.
So his solution is to stifle free speech?
"...I oppose free speech on college campuses, states Harris in his op-ed, I think college campuses should be safe havens from voices on the left and right that violate what I have learned and what I believe...
"...Harris also claims in his op-ed that institutions of higher learning would only be managing speech on campus for students own good, suggesting that when left unchecked, free speech would not facilitate a productive learning experience, arguing that individuals will end up using speech irresponsibly when utilizing it in its purest form...
Wow.
Leftists have a penchant for wearing their faults on their backs, but...this takes the cake. Let me translate:
What I have learned and what I believe will be the final word on my campus, and for your own good, I am going to restrict what you are allowed to say. Listening to an argument or statement and refuting it is simply not suited to today's world.
Scratch the skin of any Leftist and you will find a tyrant within.
This is just a re-run of the old "Let's have a conversation about race" idea.
They just mean: "Sit down. Shut up. I will now harangue you about my position. If you try to disagree, I will become violent"

Nuff said
This moron should be fired immediately.
In retrospect, the Free Speech movement was nothing more than just another weapon to destroy America and Western Society.
Now its free speech for me, but not for thee as the Left rushes to close the deal on its authoritarian takeover of our country
Re-education camps.
Libspeak for social engineering.
