Tesla on Wednesday reported a massive drop in auto sales for last quarter, though the company said it's confident it will still reach its annual sales goal. About 63,000 vehicles were delivered to customers in the first three months of 2019 a 31% drop compared to the prior quarter. The total sales figures included about 50,900 Model 3 sedans, Tesla's best-selling vehicle, and 12,100 luxury Model S sedans and Model X SUVs.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens to Tesla as the $7,500 federal tax credit winds down. Tesla still makes about $2,000 per vehicle selling Green House Gas (GHG) credits to other car companies.

Not efficiently.
The route must be planned with charging stations in mind.

Map out all the butt-kissing freebie electric hook-ups along the way and you’re golden.
Even our stupid Walgreens have them. Pathetic.

I’ve heard there are charging stations in many places, and that one can plan a road trip with an electric car.
But you have to plan your route around where the charging stations are located.

Can anyone tell me how one takes an electric vehicle cross country? If the electric vehicle is a Tesla, and you stick to the major Interstates, you should have no problem driving from sea to shining sea. Just plan on a few overnight stays.

Pent up demand for a prestige product. Once the trendies all get one, sales fall. Introduce a lower-priced product and a lot of the prestige goes away. It happens.

Tesla has a slick route mapping tool. It tells you where you need to stop, and for how long you need to be plugged in.

I still say these cars are coal-powered. And if the Left wants to support coal or nuclear power plants, I’m glad to hear it.

The tax credit is just the beginning. Gasoline is and will remain under $3 everywhere for a long time. I'm sure it's a fine car but $100k is just too high to be like a Chevy or Ford. I also predict that auto driving cars will fade when they are hacked and kill people. Non self drivers have already been hacked and made to speed up and throw on brakes. Some are already convinced that Paul Walker's car was sent speeding into a tree artificially. A defective or dirty sensor will also start to show how vulnerable they are to the "Blue screen of death".
But losing the electric subsidy will be a big reason they have peaked.

There was a charging station in a mall near me. It’s been vandalized and never fixed going on 2 years.
