Electric cars are not a new idea. In fact, electric cars were around when buggy whips were in vogue.

What freebies? Walgreens doesn’t put charging stations up just for fun. You’re stuck at a charging station waiting a half an hour for the new Model S to charge up, and what are you going to do? Well shop at Walgreens of course.
And guess what..... you don’t just plug in the car for free. You pay for the electricity.

It’s so interesting that Toyota was a partner with GM at Fremont and built very high quality cars.
I’ve read that Musk demanded an in-house written MRP system and also can’t stand the use of kan-ban.
I saw a pic of a newly delivered Model 3 the other day where about 1 inch section of the fender corner at the windshield was missing...this part got past the stamping quality, assembly line, paint shop, and final, and got shipped to Europe.
