Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” host Chris Matthews offered his take on the Democratic Party’s drift to the far-left, which he warned could have an impact on the 2020 presidential election.
Matthews reminded voters of the 1972 presidential election between incumbent President Richard Nixon and then-Democratic presidential nominee Sen. George McGovern (D-SD). Nixon won in a landslide, taking 49 states and 60% of the popular vote.
He suggested such a scenario could be possible in 2020 if Democrats nominated a far-left candidate to go up against President Donald Trump in 2020.

“What’s hard is to identify a leading candidate that is resisting the move to the left,” Matthews continued. “Very hard because all seem determined to hold their own among those young, strongly progressive, often minority voters expected to make up the voting base in the early states. I have a strong memory of how this pattern of Democratic Party behavior worked out the last time the party went hard to the left. It was 1972. George McGovern was the chosen nominee. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The convention was giddy with excitement even if not that well organized. I was there watching the Massachusetts delegation actually dancing in a circle. They were so happy. The Democrats lost 49 states that year to Richard Nixon who not only carried the Electoral College, losing only Massachusetts and D.C. but 60 percent of the popular vote.”

Go into any government office and you’ll on the wall a list of about forty languages they’ll interpret for people.

The Melting Pot has melted. There are no such people as Americans anymore - the liberals want all ethnic people to remain in their culture and not assimilate.
We are Americans on FR and will welcome any legal immigrant newcomer to America.
The others who do not accept our laws,our right to have a language, culture and our system of government in general have made their choice. We do not have to like that but they have no right to deny us our America which was here before they got here.
They have gone from unfriendly and isolated to hostile and now aggressive (Oman and Tlaib). That is wrong.
How far would we get moving to Iran or North Korea and saying “And I want Easter and Christmas off with pay and a cross put on the wall by my cubicle and a big Christmas party for my fellow people. And I refuse to learn your language so accommodate me with translations for my work and election ballots and phone translations.Okay with you guys?”
