Delaware Gov. John Carney (D) signed a bill that would give the state's presidential electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, according to the Associated Press.
In signing the bill, Delaware became the 13th state to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. States that belong to the compact would award their electoral votes to whomever wins the popular vote nationally, regardless of the results in the Electoral College.
With the addition of Delaware, states that belong to the compact hold 184 electoral votes, still well short of the 270 needed to ascend to the White House.

I believe Dems recognize that they have 2-3 million illegal votes “wasted” in California and they need to find a way to have those votes impact the election.
It’s literally a big middle finger to their own voters.
These Democrats should have passed a law stating that Delaware’s electoral votes would be cast for the candidate that won the popular vote in California. It would be more fool proof for the next 50 years for Democrats than tying it to the national vote, since they have no qualms anyway with Delaware being California’s b-tch.
This sets the stage for Donald Trump to win a 50 state landslide! Won’t that be a hoot when all those liberal states will have to give him their electors even though the democrat won in their state.
OK, question.
Who is the person, or what is the body, that will tabulate this “national popular vote”?
Assuming that there is a dispute, what methods are in place to audit this “national popular vote”? Who is the custodian of the ballots, or machines, or whatever?
What rules govern states which do not complete their counts once there is an obvious winner? To whom are the State officials that tabulate and certify statewide results responsible?
Individuals voting is not part of the Constitutional process for choosing the President.
When Trump wins the 2020 popular vote, every leftist’s head will explode, and demand a recount and an independent counsel (because the special counsel routine didn’t work.)
The "compact" only kicks in after enough states agree to cover the 270 electoral vote threshold.
This crap is an unconstitutional usurpation of federal constitutional powers. It has to be rocket docketed to USSC and STOPPED.
Great. I will love to see these blue states go for the GOP candidate when he wins the popular vote. Hilarious.
In the meantime, it will never hurt the GOP when the Dem wins the popular vote, since these commie states will already be electoral votes for the Rat candidate.
There is no downside for the GOP here.
There are troublesome scenarios in the offing. The "national popular vote" is very close, for example, and one of the states isn't going to count provisional ballots because it's not necessary to determine that state's electors. So now the Compact states are going to sue this other state to force them to count votes? Where does the Constitution say one state can decide how another state will choose its electors.
Another scenario is that a Republican wins the "national popular vote". Connecticut decides it just can't abide by the compact and give its electors to DJT, for example. So it decides to change its election laws after the election has been held. Their state Supreme Court is pure Libtard and allows it. SCOTUS decides not to interfere because Roberts says it's a tax or something. Now Connecticut is out of the Compact so the EVs in the Compact are now fewer than 270 so the Compact is no longer in effect. Connecticut and the other states in Compact told their voters they weren't choosing their electors, just contributing to a national popular vote. Only now they are choosing their electors. So all the people who stayed home because their votes wouldn't matter have been lied to. Yup, it will be a mess.
Hard to believe that DE was once politically competitive; no more for sure.
Little bitty Delaware will never again have a say. Delaware has 3 vs. CA with 55. Just let Los Angeles decide for now on. Better yet, lets just poll illegals as they cross.
Thank you for mentioning that ontap.
In stark contrast to the hypocritical Democratic all votes count mantra, and ballot box stuffing and the illegal votes of illegal aliens for Democratic candidates aside, power-mad Democrats seem to be clueless that when the states ratified the 12th Amendment the states gave up their power to give electoral votes to candidates who didn't win them.
Excerpted from the 12th Amendment: "The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice- President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate [emphasis added]; "
Remember in November 2020!
MAGA!
Shouldn’t that read Delaware Governor signs bill giving his state’s/voter’s Electoral College votes to New York and California?!?
Section 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several states according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each state, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the executive and judicial officers of a state, or the members of the legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such state, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such state. If it results in the electors being awarded an any basis other than the vote in that state, it's unconstitutional.
When the actual winner of those votes sues to get them back, how can he/she lose??????
So Delaware doesn’t need to vote anymore since if they do not vote for the candidate that wins the national popular vote their votes don’t matter. I think they need to study why a small state like Delaware gets electoral votes to start with.
If the Democrats attempt to throw out the electoral college in the 2020 election, the country will blow sky high.
These rogue blue states are essentially creating their own Congress, and are and making up new laws that they expect the red states to comply with.
Ain’t gonna happen.
