President Donald Trump railed against special counsel Robert Mueller's now-completed investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election on Wednesday, calling it an "attempted takeover of our government."

"We can never allow this treasonous, these treasonous acts to happen to another President," Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity, in his first TV interview since Attorney General William Barr summarized the principal findings of Mueller's report in a memo to Congress on Sunday.

This was an attempted takeover of our government, of our country, an illegal takeover," Trump said. "If it were the other way around, where I was doing it to President Obama or a Democrat, it would be virtually the maximum sentence that you can find."

Usual lurid and inaccurate headline, but consider the source. This was a power play by some of the greasiest players in Washington DC, whose principal commonality beside ideology was a sense that the power they'd been granted by their country was theirs as an entitlement and could be used however they saw fit because the oversight was just as corrupt. And until Trump came along, that was a perfectly justified assumption.

The level of lawlessness attained in pursuit of this scheme is simply breathtaking, and if the country is not to remain at that level there must be serious consequences for the perpetrators. This is not a time for healing, not yet. It's a time for heads to roll.

I think treason is a broader umbrella which INCLUDES sedition. Because any time you try to undermine the legitimate government, you are assisting the enemies of the USA. A lesser President would have buckled under the onslaught.

A lesser President would not have been able to conduct summits with some of the worst actors on the planet, revitalize the economy, and maintain his base of support with all the horse sheet going on that he has had to endure.
