Republican lawmakers announced Tuesday that they would be introducing a constitutional amendment this week that would stop the recent push by some Democrats to increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court.
Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., slammed calls by 2020 Democratic hopefuls to increase the number of sitting judges as dangerous and a threat to the balance of power among the three branches of government.
Schemes to pack the court are dangerous to the Founders' vision of an independent judiciary that serves as a check on both the Executive and Legislative branches of government, he wrote on Twitter.
Green said he intends to file a constitutional amendment Thursday that would limit the number of justices to 9 - the number it has been since 1869.

Why didn’t the Dems do this when they ran everything under Obama ? Didn’t think of it ?
I honestly think the majority of the country would be against it.
It’s like dems are BEGGING Independents to not vote for them.
Haven’t talked to anyone of any stripe that thought it was a good idea.
If the proposal makes it to some preliminary vote for approval, itll be interesting to see how many of the usual gang of Republican idiots vote against it...
7 would be best.
Because they were expecting that witch hitlary would be able to fraud its way into being President.
Democrats truly are the party of scum. This nation saved the world more than once, and they want to ‘remake’ it, ‘transform it’, ‘reform it’, etc. It is heartbreaking, in the deepest conception of that term. So many young hearts stopped beating as the brains and bodies that they pumped blood to were killed in the genesis and defense of this nation. For what? So that clueless narcissistic people could throw it all away? If that’s the way it’s going, then it is too bad the heroes didn’t walk away from their sacrifices and just decide to live.
The big push is on........open borders, complete media takeover, sixteen year olds voting, doing away with the electoral college, added seats to the Supreme Court, infanticide, support of Muslim terrorists in the house, expanded sanctuary cities........am I forgetting something?
Just say “NO” and it’s not going to happen, I really don’t think most realistic people want it to happen....
I say lets agree it and trump can nominate 500 Supreme Court judges that the senate will approve
The big question is why the BIG PUSH now? especially before a Presidential election? They may think in their little brains that they got the presidency wrapped up and that they can go ahead and openly lay out their cards becyno one is going to stop them or just that they are just that radical and come h*ll or high water they will stand or fall on these issues no matter what because they think foolishly the majority of people are on their side
We need to clean up the fourth-year nomination ban. Make it law so they cant keep mentioning Merritt Garland. Im sick off Garland.
Its like dems are BEGGING Independents to not vote for them.
The Dems are planning to do away with Voters
Trump ought to send 6 conservative SC nominees to the Senate. There would be such outcry that the House and Senate would pass legislation permanently fixing it a 9. Trump signs it and wins this argument.
They don’t need voters. They make them up.
They are signalling that they are going to pack the SC with liberals who will wipe their asses with the Constitution.
they weren’t successful in 2016 and we gained seats in the senate which almost never happens to the party the POTUS belongs to in midterms.
Trump won’t step down that easy if he thinks there was rampant fraud. I truly believe that and then the action really begins.
trannies in the bathroom with your wife/daughter
this, and people like Elizabeth Warren signing onto abolition of the Electoral College, are the reason I have some serious doubts as to whether the timing is right for a CConvention.
People are not ‘normal’ right now. Whether it’s Russian or Iranian or Mexican or Chinese money, people are just not ‘right’ in the head.
