New Zealand attorney general 'backtracks' on vow to ban semi-automatics......

Attorney General David Parker had told a crowd at a vigil Saturday that a key part of the government's response was to ban semi-automatic weapons, a step further than Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had called for in the wake of the attacks.

But Parker told Radio New Zealand on Saturday that the government has yet to make any decision on what changes to gun ownership policies, if any, would look like.

"We need to ban some semi-automatics, perhaps all of them. Those decisions have yet to be taken, but the prime minister has signaled that we are going to look at that issue.".... as it stands now we have no idea who's buying weapons and where they're keeping them or how many they have in New Zealand.

The minimum legal age to own a firearm in New Zealand is 16, and there is currently no national register of gun owners. All gun owners must be licensed to own and operate a firearm and must pass a background check of criminal and medical records. Registering a purchased firearm, however, is not required in New Zealand.

The guns used in the mosque massacres were obtained legally.

They need to throw that coward out of office the very next election!

At least those in his area know they cannot count on him to protect them and their families!

The New Zealander’s need to pass a law forbidding Australians to visit NZ and bringing guns with them.

The "Australian" shooter has only been on Australian soil for 45 days out of the last 3 years. What influenced him most likely lies outside Australia.

Shortly after the shooting, Daily Mail had a piece about him being tracked by turkish security due to his ‘odd’ travel habits, and he had visited a number of muslim countries. Also some people noticed that he had what appeared to be an islamic prayer bump on his head prior to the shooting. IMHO there’s enough loose ends to make people say ‘hmmmmm’.

I'd guess the MP or whatever he is...got blow back from some of the hunting outfits...there...Maybe even other sane Kiwi's...

That’s kind of what I was thinking. They probably got a million calls, asking them, if they know where the sun don’t shine?

I spent 2.5 weeks in New Zealand last year, driving the bulk of the north isle, and less so on the south isle. All total...half the size of California. I think people would be fairly shocked at the rural nature of both islands.

I got out into one stretch of area where they warned you...there wasn’t another gas station for forty miles in any direction. There may be 4.8-million people there, but the bulk reside in the five biggest cities.

I would question just how far they think they can go on ‘more’ regulations. Maybe the urbanized voters might agree to something, but rural dwellers won’t abide by harsh changes.

Wait and see until the PM makes her call down there.

It will be against firearms, it’s only a question of degree.

In this country after the Las Vegas mass murder we got a bump stock ban dropped on us.

The point is, people, that in NZ, there is no piece of paper that specifically forbids the government from banning semi-autos, or videos, or what the news can or does say, or what someone may say or do in public, like wearing a red hat.

When they get around to absolutely codifying Human Rights, like self protection, free speech, freedom of and for religion, and a whole lot of other whims, you'll let us know?

The law abiding citizens of New Zealand should rise up and overthrow their government and imprison all of the politicians who dare threaten to disarm them in their attempt to leave them powerless against governmental tyranny in order to control them and leave them totally defenseless against "the authorities", Muslims and criminals ...who want to enslave, control or kill them.

Ultimately, the only thine that prevents this from happening is the force of arms, held within the hands of the law abiding citizens of New Zealand.

"MOLON LABE!" - "COME AND TAKE THEM!" Must be the battle cry of the citizens of New Zealand.

Uh-oh. Looks like some sheep don't want to be sheared.
Off to the meat market with them then.

Lamb chops, anyone?

“”Personally I don’t care for a SA rifle...but lot’s of people do.””

I’m the same way. I’ve tried several time and I always end up trading them off. I carry a rifle daily in the truck and the semi’s seem to get hung up on everything plus they sling brass everywhere. Coyotes are the biggest problem here on the ranch and it’s easier to get a bolt rifle out the window than an AR platform. I even went to a 10 rd mag but that didn’t seen to help. I carried an old tang safety Ruger in 243 up until about a year ago and now carry a Ruger American Predator in 243. It and the Hornady 58 grains moving around 3900 fps makes for some serious yote medicine. Check out this season of Carnivore and you’ll see the little Ruger doing it’s job. We only got to hunt for one day due to the weather but we called in 8 yotes and 2 bob cats. We let the cats walk but I got 3 of the yotes and my buddy got another one. The little Ruger American is allot of rifle in an affordable package. Ruger finally puts a decent trigger on a rifle! Loved the old Ruger’s but always ended up replacing the triggers.

She probably just learned what semi-automatic means.
You can’t blame her though, right? I mean, it says ‘automatic’ right there in the name. Who can keep up with all that?

I don’t believe I had even heard of bump stocks before Las Vegas.

SA can mean “single action” or “semi-auto”. I don’t think that’s a good acronym to use.

It is easy to take guns away from citizens but impossible to take them from criminals and that IS THE PROBLEM.

In these kinds of conversations, it’s tacitly assumed by liberals everywhere, that gun laws have the power to change or stop anti-social behavior.

By actual test and statistical analysis, it can be shown that anti-gun laws do nothing to impede or alter the behavior, motivations, or intent of any criminal, murderer, nutjob, or terrorist.

The only people who obey such laws are the law abiding, who are no threat to their fellow citizens. Instead of protecting the public at large, these laws do the exact opposite, by reducing the individual’s ability to defend themselves against the aforementioned classes.

And don’t forget, our own Supreme Court has ruled that the police are under no obligation to protect your life or liberty.

Muslims were the ones being shot, not the ones doing the shooting.
I think NZ has figured that they have to ‘splain the Muslims that the police cannot protect them and they need to defend themselves with the guns they can’t have.

True. Thinking IS hard.
