At the urging of a politically connected lawyer, State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx asked Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson to turn over the investigation of Jussie Smollett’s reported attack to the FBI, according to communications provided to the Tribune.
Foxx reached out to Johnson after Tina Tchen, former chief of staff to first lady Michelle Obama, texted Foxx saying the actor’s family had unspecified “concerns about the investigation.” Tchen, a close friend of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s wife, said she was acting on behalf of the “Empire” actor and his family. A relative later exchanged texts with Foxx.
The exchanges began Feb. 1, three days after Smollett claimed two men approached him near his Streeterville apartment building, yelled racists and homophobic slurs, hit him and put noose after his neck. It would still be 2½ weeks before he was charged with making the story up, but some media outlets were already starting to question the actor’s account, citing unnamed police sources.
“Spoke to the Superintendent Johnson,” Foxx emailed Tchen back on Feb. 1. “I convinced him to Reach out to FBI to ask that they take over the investigation.”
The same day, Foxx texted with Smollett’s relative, whose name was blacked out in copies released by her office.
“Spoke to the superintendent earlier, he made the ask,” Foxx wrote. “Trying to figure out logistics. I’ll keep you posted.”
“Omg this would be a huge victory,” the relative replied.
“I make no guarantees, but I’m trying,” Foxx wrote back.

From every part of this story....Chicago cops were fairly neutral, professional, and ethical. Smollett should have offered to bribe them like he did the two fake attackers.
What was she trying to do, have our FBI, with its nothing other than honorable rank and file, white wash the Democrat like they did Hillary?

The narrative would have probably been ‘Hate crime against Smollett referred to FBI’.
But it’s only a small number of upper FBI management that is corrupt!!

Hey, don’t laugh. I’m from Chicago. During the older Mayor Daly’s reign, you could bribe the cops. I was 17 years old and got stopped for speeding on the Dan Ryan. I opened my wallet to show him my driver’s license, and I had a twenty, peeking out. He said, “Add another 20 and we’ll let this pass.”
Absolutely. I tell you, what surprised the hell out of me about this whole thing was not that his “attack” was a hoax - I think that was pretty obvious - but that they actually charged him! Especially since he held 3 cards: The race card, the gay card, and the democrap card. Getting charged just doesn’t happen today to people holding that many cards. As we have seen many times, just holding the democrap card is enough to get a criminal act buried. I was certain that cops would say the “investigation” is ongoing, that the treason media would ignore it, then it would all be brushed under the rug ala Al Sharpton and the Tawana Brawley case and probably even brought out from time to time as “proof” of racist Trump supporters. But that didn’t happen. Smollett must have ticked off someone really bad in the Rat party, maybe their commander Hillary.
