And in my opinion, we should be weary of any entity in which both of those things are combined, whether it’s through one way or the other. Um, and that’s why the emphasis in Democratic Socialism is on duhmocracy. And it’s not about, you know, it it’s it’s just as much a transformation about bringing duhmocracy to the workplace so that we have a say, and that we don’t check all of our rights at the door every time we cross the threshold into our workplace. Let’s deconstruct this
Right out of the gate, she describes opposition to Democratic Socialism as “fear mongering” and without skipping a beat, tells us “we should be scared right now because corporations have taken over out government.” Who’s the fear monger again?
Like a broken clock, AOC gets something right when she says, “We should be weary of any entity in which both of those things (corporations and government) are combined” but then she pulls an immediate u-turn with this bit of insanity, “it’s just as much a transformation about bringing duhmocracy to the workplace.”
There should be exactly as much “duhmocracy” in the workplace as the owners decide they want/need in order to foster the environment they – as OWNERS OF PRIVATE PROPERTY, GOODS, AND SERVICES – deem necessary to remain profitable. What AOC is describing is literally the very definition of a marriage between the govt and corporations in order to regulate what people can and can’t do with their private property/business/investments. I’m certain there’s a name for that style of government but it escapes me at the moment.
LAST – AOC takes credit for “billions of dollars of economic productivity a year” on behalf of “workers” (as though CEOs don’t work).
She must be unaware that America’s GDP is just a bit higher than that.
That’s okay. She was only off by $20.5 trillion give or take. She’s still learning. Representing is hard.
They don’t want to pull on her leash they WANT this to be one main stream conversation, this is how things started in Venezuela and soon the people started voting FOR socialism it all sounded so good to the young people, their heads having been filled with propaganda!!! Well those young people ARE NOW living what THEY voted for AND those young people tha didn’t believe in socialism ARE NOW the young people trying to FIGHT and bail the8r butts out of the mess the socialists created!!! This AOC woman is VERY SCAREY to me, she is getting far to much attention, BERNIE damn near got elected our young people have been indoctrinated in our universities AND we are headed straight towards socialism!! The government has slowly made it damn near impossible to get a job WITHOUT a college degree, they have taken most good factory jobs out of the country and our kids are being FORCED into universities where they are indoctrinated!! It is getting worse now though they are starting in the elementary school level mark my words it won’t be long and this county WILL BE a socialist HELL HOLE!!! We have gone to far down the rabbit hole to turn it around!!{

The workers' councils she wants to use as management are, incidentally, called "soviets" in Russian. That system lasted only until 1921 when even Lenin threw in the towel. And reintroduced money, which he had also attempted to abolish. Funny how this stuff sounds so good in freshman dorm rooms and falls so flat in the real world...

These people crack me up. And why should anyone actually bother to produce wealth? I'll just sit on my fat ass and collect my fair share when the Distribution fairy comes around and gives me other people's money.

Somebody else makes the capital and they confiscate it and give it to people who are above working for their own keep.

Leftists often confuse cause and effect. The reason that corporations are interested in control of government is because those in government are exceeding their constitutional boundaries. So - if the feds were keeping their mitts off the markets, the corporations would have less incentive to try to influence them.
AOCs brand of socialism just makes this problem worse. I think many of the representatives realize this - but if they stopped, their gravy train of truckloads of cash would stop.
That is, like, sooo amazingly spot on!
However, in the world of AOC Socialism, the business would be "thriving", though, but on nothing but government subsidies. It's just like the socialist power company for all of Venezuela - no power produced for the last four days and still counting.
