President Trump is facing a potential revolt among Senate Republicans over his decision to declare a national emergency to construct the U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Sen. Rand Pauls (R-Ky.) public announcement over the weekend that he will oppose Trumps declaration ensures a resolution blocking it will be approved by the Senate after already passing the House unless Senate Republicans can find some kind of last-minute way out of the showdown.
Republicans have been hunting for a way out of a fight over the declaration that has badly fractured the caucus, but Pauls decision underscores the difficulty leadership faces in finding a successful exit strategy.

Hes lazy.
And cajoneless.
The GOPe chickens#!ts don’t have the guts to defend the country’s borders. They know that the president can veto everything and they will let him take the heat.
COWARDS!!
____
Other than SCOTUS and taxcut, they’re worthless. Won’t fund the wall; couldn’t overturn Obamacare; Wouldn’t defund Planned Parenthood; what else am I missing?
Looking from out/in it seems to me that if you have one democrat in the house and one the senate, and the rest are republicans, democrat party wins every important vote?
The absolute truth!
What Rebellion? They vote, and Trump decides to Veto or not...
Honestly Trump’s been fighting the GOPe since day one... hardly is a difference of opinion on a vote a “rebellion”.
Did the Republicans vote against emergency powers for Obama, Clinton, Bush?????
Although these legislators are breaking with the pack, I still feel like we’re getting the mushroom treatment about the wall, so I hesitate to condemn them.
The present wall appears hopelessly inadequate. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, “Yet in the stretch between the San Ysidro and Otay Mesa border crossings, human-sized holes are punching through the fence about 550 times a year.” This appears to be a short stretch of the wall within the city of San Diego. Being the local source, I have no reason to doubt this newspaper. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/border-baja-california/sdut-border-wall-daily-repair-2016may15-story.html
Given this information, It seems more pressing to beef up this wall and probably others like it, than to add more in the middle of nowhere.
Additionally, I would like to know just how impenetrable the Trump wall would be. Cutting torches, diamond saws, and maybe even dynamite can put a hole into almost any wall in no time, and are cheap, portable, and readily available in Mexico. Tunnels also come to mind.
Any barrier slows them down.
We need aggressive enforcement on the interior to reduce the incentives.
We really do need a second party in this country, these uniparty hacks are tiresome.
Que?
Did they use them for budgetary spending in contravention to the constitution?
Trump on brink of exposing RINO-RATS (a hybrid democRAT) over emergency declaration.
It was much easier to list the things they did do.
They are all in it for themselves and their stupid party politics. There are only politicians now, not statesmen.
4 Republican defections is not a rebellion.Love,
Sell crazy somewhere else.
Laz
why can’t it be overridden?
why cant it be overridden?
Not enough defectors to override.
WHY ARE WE ALLOWING CITIZENS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES
ENTER US ILLEGALLY GRANT THEM RIGHTS
THAT THEIR COUNTRY DENY US HAVING
WHEN WE ENTER THEIRS LEGALLY ???
It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen doing so. Subject to reciprocal citizen treatment a citizen of the United States receives in Mexico through the Mexican constitution on citizenship .
Besides being unable to vote one must also be a citizen to own land and Mexico is very restrictive about granting citizenship. Because of that a US citizen besides not being able to vote, and cannot have title in their name to any land property in Mexico. And until that is changed the US and the affected state should consider making that reciprocal.prohibiting citizens of Mexico or countries with similar restrictions from doing both voting and land ownership.. .
I have no idea - am just wondering whether or not they are being consistent
The House resolution of disapproval, approved in a 245-182 vote, has been sent to the Armed Services Committee where Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) says he does not plan to give it a hearing or a markup.
Wont reach the floor for a vote.
It's closer to home than that. They really just have to go over to the Chamber of Communists, and the Business Roundtable and the a$$es they are paid handsomely to lick are right there. Of course, if that isn't enough, they can always go over to the Kock Bros. and ask them to “drop trou!”
