Trump on brink of GOP rebellion over emergency declaration
The Hill ^ | 03/04/19 | Jordain Carney

President Trump is facing a potential revolt among Senate Republicans over his decision to declare a national emergency to construct the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) public announcement over the weekend that he will oppose Trump’s declaration ensures a resolution blocking it will be approved by the Senate after already passing the House — unless Senate Republicans can find some kind of last-minute way out of the showdown.

Republicans have been hunting for a way out of a fight over the declaration that has badly fractured the caucus, but Paul’s decision underscores the difficulty leadership faces in finding a successful exit strategy.

"With a resolution blocking Trump’s emergency declaration expected to fall short of overriding veto, Republicans are already turning their attention to separate legislation spawned out of an intense separation of powers debate."

Just more fake news or are the Republicans really plotting to sabotage President Trump on border security?

If his veto is not upheld, then any and all chaos and deaths is on the hands of both parties. Just sit back and let the fallout happen. Trump’s hands are clean in this.

4 trillion for worthless wars and the un-Fabulous Four can’t sign up to let the CINC spend a few billion actually helping prevent an invasion?

Didn't McConnell tell Trump he'd back him up on this if he'd sign the spending bill?

Dems nearly always vote as a predictable 100% bloc.
Pelosi and Schumer tell them, they obey. Lacking any Dem help, the GOP gives up.

GOP side: maybe some RINOs may possibly vote with the GOP!!
What kind of a party is that?

Is the GOP now the new Dexter Village Ladies Garden Club board of directors? They probably are more dynamic and boldly active in getting things done.

Trump should temporarily switch to the Democrat party. As a Democrat, the GOP would be terrified of standing up to him.

Rand would rather win the dorm room losertarian discussion about hypothetical freedoms than protect us from an invasion that will utterly destroy our constitutional republic and turn it into a third world one-party sh*thole.

If ever there was a time for patriots to put away petty differences and unite, it is now. We are at the crossroads with no do-overs. Rand Paul just doesn't get it.

The GOPe chickens#!ts don't have the guts to defend the country's borders. They know that the president can veto everything and they will let him take the heat.

COWARDS!!

I think that this is a rehased article, updated with Rand Paul’s addition forming the NEA Four. Not exactly a revolt, three of the usual suspects plus Tillis, who appears to just be clueless.

Of course he gets it. It won’t cost him anything because POTUS will veto it in-veto proof. Let the Donald do the dirty work. He’s lazy.

GOP, is the enemy of my enemy my friend, anymore?
GOP is nearly completely pointless.
DC duo-party facade, owned by enemies foreign and domestic.

Each of these GOP quislings needs to have ICE drop a busload of illegals on their doorsteps, hopefully with a few MS 13 members included to show them what the country is dealing with.

Dear GOPe.

Remember Obama? His ED’s? You did nothing?

You are worried about the constitution now? Which no one obeys.

Pick a side maggots. Are you going to lick the asses of the large cities or represent the clear majority?

Anyone that doesn’t support Trump on this needs to be primaried.

If Congress feels the Emergency declaration gives the president too much power, they can write legislation to reel the power back in.

But opposing him for using the power instead of tightening the language is to effectively oppose Trump’s policies while leaving the power concentration as is.
