It also magnifies the extreme weather it shelters us from. Taking in all stages of production, concrete is said to be responsible for 4-8% of the worlds CO2. Among materials, only coal, oil and gas are a greater source of greenhouse gases. Half of concretes CO2 emissions are created during the manufacture of clinker, the most-energy intensive part of the cement-making process.

Oh, concrete is "said" to be responsible.......... So, I suppose that 9/11 was an attempt by envirowanker mooselimbs to assault the use of steel and concrete and not really about our evil ways? Does mr. watts live in a grass shack? I notice " Cities " is supported by the Rockefeller Foundation. And we all know they never contributed to the demise of civilization by using the most evil material in the world. Right?

But CO2 is good.
I’m missing their point.

Well, thank goodness cow farts are now “off the hook”! It was going to be a real ordeal trying to teach them better manners.

How dare the Egyptians withhold straw from the Israelites as reinforcement for . . . what? Bricks. Or maybe the Egyptians were merely being the enviro-wackos of their time?

And if we cut all the trees down.. Oh, that’s right... Trees eat CO2.... Oh well, concrete it is.

So when Ocasio-Cortez wants to retrofit every building in America, will all concrete structures need to be demolished, because concrete is now a “bad guy” in the global warming story????

Hold on a minute... Didn’t Al Gore use concrete to make the basement of his oceanfront mansion in Montecito, California???
Hypocrite is, as hypocrite does.

On PBS’s Nova they had a show recently about volcanoes. They studied why this one spot in Italy was not shooting out lava. Turns out there is a thick layer of rock that tends to bend but does not crack up easily. They did a core sample to see what made it so strong. That rock had the same microscopic makeup as concrete.

To save the planet we’ll need to...
* tear down concrete buildings and build ones made of mud and straw
* tear up cement highways and convert them to mud and gravel
* remove concrete dams and give beavers protected status
Nix the last suggestion. Beavers destroy trees.

Yup, have to go back to making buildings completely out of wood. Chicago made such a cheery fire.

According to the UN and the US EPA, methane has 1/3 thermal impact as CO2.
Over a lifetime, does a cow emit more methane through flatulence or more CO2 through respiration?
At a 3:1 impact ratio...does it even matter?

We should go back to building with sticks and manure.
You'll have to use your own feces, what with cows being gone...
