White Tucker Carlson Guest Says African-Americans ‘Need to Move on’ From Slavery (Video)
Tucker Carlson guest Mark Steyn offered his thoughts and slavery and the issue of reparations to the descendants of U.S. slaves, telling viewers of Carlson’s Fox News show Thursday that nobody living today knew anyone who had been a slave and that people just needed to move on from the whole issue.
“Slavery was abolished a century and a half ago. Nobody alive today had a grandparent who was a slave and in that sense I think you reach a point where, you know, you need to move on,” said, Steyn, a Canadian author and culture commentator who is white. “The reparations thing eventually, as the decades go by, becomes ridiculous.” ...

I agree. Enough about slavery already.When it comes to race baiting the perception is more important than the reality. The last time a black was lynched by a white was almost forty years ago in 1981. Before that it was 60 years ago.Yet the identity politicians Booker and Harris to keep the perception alive and create racial disharmony for their own political advantage that there is a noose around every corner are sponsoring anti lynching bills in the senate to make murder by lynching additionally a hate crime even though it never occurs in these times.

People want to support, who they have chosen to support.
Most of the time, all that person has to do is offer up some sort of defense, and folks will fall in behind them. It may be bogus as hell, but it gives the supporters what they need, and excuse.

It never dawns on them that we have the best Constitution around, and that our nation offers the most freedoms of any nation around, and our citizens are treated fairly almost all the time.

And how many whites died to free those slaves? And how many whites supported the civil right movement? It’s like the contributions of all the white abolitionists, union soldiers, civil rights supporters, etc. don’t mean a thing.
There is only ONE way to heal this. One must return to equal treatment under the law regardless of one’s skin color. No more equality of outcome. That’s evil, because it means government has to step in and take sides.
The government needs to take a completely blind approach to race. The color of your skin and your perceived race shouldn’t matter one bit as far as government is concerned. It has ZERO business picking winners and losers. That only leads to more evil as various factions try to carve out more largesse for themselves at the expense of their fellow citizens.
That’s the ONLY way this nation will ever achieve MLK’s dream of people being judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

To me reparations have already been paid, with the blood of 500,000 white Americans who fought, died or suffered in the War of Southern Independence.
Isn’t that enough for people who would never know about slavery unless someone told them?

Mark was being responsive to the issue of reparations in the context of the slavery issue and that in asking for reparations from people today who were not involved in slavery they need to get over it. Jewish people are not asking for reparations and there is nothing wrong in remembering the holocaust or slavery for that matter to make sure they do not happen again but reparations for either from innocent people globally who were not alive when they occurred is out of the question.

There is a place for descendant rememberance concerning a traumatic event in the ancestral history. Steyn isn’t saying that should be abandoned. What he is saying is that there comes a time that victimhood must end. If Israeli Jews still wallowed in victimology, they would have been finished off a long time ago. They have rememberance. But they forward think without their eyes fixed permanently in the rear vision mirror
The Supreme Court is largely responsible for this. Rather than stand on constitutional principles, they consistently muddied the waters. Clear constitutionality tests have given way to legal mush. It’s literally tearing this nation apart as all the various special interests fight for their piece of the pie.
It is possible to stop this, but it requires a return to founding principles and much smaller government. Of course, what do I know. I’m an evil white guy who, according to the left, is a racist simply by virtue of my skin color.

I know an Italian family who moved here in the late 50’s. So they owned no slaves. They lived in Detroit and had nothing to do with segregation and were not prejudiced about other people groups.
Should they pay some price for slavery long ago?

The War of Southern Independence? What are you talking about? The war was fought over the right to own slaves. It’s said that it was fought over state’s rights. Which states right was its fought over? Slavery. It’s also said that it was the economy. Well the economy of the South depended on slaves.
