This may become a plank in the platform regardless of who the nominee is. It will get them 110% of the black vote; not sure what it will do to their non-black turnout...

The government, the Democratic Party and all Black Americans should be required to pay reparations to anyone whose ancestors fought on the union side in the Civil War and brought about the end of slavery.
The Democratic Party was the party of slavery, the KKK and racial hatred and violence. They should be required to pay reparations to all who fought to end slavery.
The most valuable ones would be a free education through high school and the freedoms and equality of opportunity enumerated in our Constitution (including the Bill of Rights.)
And the best news?
They already have those.
How exactly will they determine if someone is “black”? What is they are “black” but not from here when there were slaves?
Who will pay for it, and how will you determine who has to pay? A big greasy can of worms.
And the Union soldier families get how much? What discount do I get for a family that came here long after slavery, lived in the North, and also suffered discrimination? Do we get a Jussie Smollett hoax credit? Do republicans get an exemption because we ended slavery? How about outlawing the democrat party? Shouldn’t only democrats pay for this?
Does this mean the descendants of Brits who were kidnapped into slavery by Viking hoards can claim reparations from the Scandinavian countries?
Muhammad Ali was affected by it. ...after the fight was over and the victorious Ali returned to America, he was asked by a reporter what he thought of Africa. He replied, “Thank God my granddaddy got on that boat.”
There are no blacks living today who were affected by slavery... It ended in 1865, and in 1868 full citizenship rights were granted.
So, unless you were producing C02 prior to 1865, you weren’t affected by slavery directly.
The current Federal Government began in 1789, so slavery was only legal in the US for about 76 years, and has been illegal for 154 years, more than twice as long as it was legal.
IF you feel your life was ruined because of something that happened to your great, great, great, great, great, great, grandparents then you need therapy, not a government check.
Some white suburban women may still vote for this because of white guilt, and they don’t want to be yelled at by their black suburban female peers who love Michelle Obama.
How about all the black Americans who would be in a sh*thole in Africa if it weren’t for slavery?
And Trump supporters defamed by juicy? Any reparations there? And, my kin folk fought for the yanks so I believe I am owed some recompense for saving them. Any transportation pay back for transporting them to the colonies? If they hadn’t been, a whole bunch would never have been born.
Neither side of my family had anything to do with slavery.
In contrast, Obama’s family were major slave traders. And so, probably, were the families of many other Democrats who are busy playing politics with this issue.
To quantify how much slavery has effected 21st century African Americans we would need to compare them to a control population. People who’s ancestors weren’t captured and sold as slaves. Such as the the current population of Africa. I wonder how much “reparations” would end up being if you based them on the difference in standard of living between African Americans and people still living in Africa.
How much are we owed for the assassination of Lincoln? How about the victims of race riots? Do the Ron Goldstein and Nicole Simpson families get exempted? Do we get paid back for affirmative action? Don’t Chinese deserve payments they used to shoot them out West? It’s only been 155 years since slavery, will we do this every 150 years? Im guessing it will be continuing payments for life forever.
Any black Americans who can prove that they were slaves should be entitled to reparations from their slave owners.
