When a prominent Democrat has lost Chuck Todd, the handwriting is on the wall.
Three days ago, I predicted that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was sealing her fate when she took (and probably deserved) credit for killing the deal that would have brought 25,000 high-paying Amazon jobs to New York City. It's not that the young woman with boundless self-confidence in her views has no clue about how tax incentives work (though that is obviously true, since she crowed that the $3 billion in tax abatements could be spent on subways, schools, and the like). Ignorance and simple-mindedness are no obstacles to a Democrat winning approval from party bosses.
No, Sandy O's real infraction was in exposing and opposing the sweetheart deals between Democrats and the tech oligarchy. Both sides to the Grand Bargain see it as a key to their goals. The Democrats want and need the tech titans' thumbs on the scale in digital discourse and campaign donations from them. The new-age monopolists need antitrust protection for their market dominance, government contracts (see: Amazon's DOD cloud deal), and access so their concerns can be heard early, privately, and effectively, before the general public has a clue as to what is being protected, given away, or winked at.
Yesterday, we saw the first video fruits of Democrats' need to undermine and eventually unseat the Queens phenom on Meet the Press. Both Mayor Bill de Blasio and host Chuck Todd impugned her intelligence. Here is the full eight-minute segment:
The key moments making the same basic point I did in my blog three days ago, as summarized by Bruce Golding of The New York Post:

Her constituents love her.
Apparently, the under the table payments would have made up for any losses to New Yorkers. But giving a company tax breaks isn’t going to create any tax breaks for THEM. It’s like lottery money -— “get a new supply of money flowing in, so we can skim and spend more! Who cares about keeping taxes low for the people!”
The tax breaks were to be reflected as a reduction in their bill. The estimate I saw was they would pay 27 billion. They had a 3 bill break therefore they would pay 24 bill over 10 years.
Laughingly AOL thought there was 3 billion to redirect by chasing Amazon away.
I’m just saying that the people would never have seen those tax breaks.
agreed but she is ready to spend it. LOL
Thanks for the link. Better to be called ‘Sandy’, I suppose, than to be known as ‘Coonman’.
She showed such promise in high school, winning a prize at an Intel Science Fair and having an asteroid named after her. It was the shift to economics at Boston University that was a big mistake, but the final nail in the coffin was Interning at Ted Kennedy’s Immigration Office...pure poison for the mind.
She’s sophomoric all right. I remember when I was young and knew everything. But people electing someone as ignorant as she is, is another blot on the millennials who elected her.
I forget where I read a long time ago. “We get the kind of government, we deserve.”
Would you give a 3 billion credit to get 27 billion not counting the periphiel increased tax revenues that feed off providing services, etc. to Amazon employees and various local vendors for decades to come?
awesome, I love it!!!!!!
I work for a oompany that had this kind of deal. We had to fill out reports showing we met the payroll requirements that were part of the deal.
Yes, and it’s too bad for those who DON’T deserve it.
Make America Christian Again
majority vote can be a bitch even the majority of 17% of the eligible voters
In a sane world you would have lower taxes and less regulations and companies would want to come there because theres people to hire and money to save and money to make. Rising tides raise all boats. Alas NYC is not sane. Raise taxes and run business off. Ilyon NY, Remington Arms. Goodby NY hello TN. More than 100 years shot due to loss of revenue and anti- 2A attitudes. Stupid is as stupid does. NYC is the tail wagging the NY state dog. Keep voting blue Fido and enjoy your state tax deduction.
Tell that to the Tesla and Panasonic leadership. The State of New York has dumped several billion dollars into an upstate solar power project jointly managed by those two companies ... and it’s sliding into the crapper as I write this.
I think Todd looks like a child molester!
I bet he molests himself several times daily!
