I was careful to note the quote about real estate agents losing a lot of potential income, since my idiot, uber-Leftist, cousin (idiot because of many things besides just her politics) is a NYC real estate agent!!! I sent it to her father (my uncle), who shares my view of the world for the most part...I’m sure that he’ll be sure to remind her that her income **could** have gone up a lot, but that thanks to her idiotic politics, she just cost herself many tens of thousands of dollars per year, pretty much forever.

I suspect that after they announced the NYC selection in November, they started to get a sense of how preposterous it would be to locate a headquarters-type operation in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Most of the big companies headquartered in NYC are in banking and financial services, and most other big companies headquartered there have been there for decades. Maybe I'm overlooking something here, but I simply don't see an upside to locating a business in New York that doesn't absolutely have to be there.
