one of the great things about the internet is that we can hear from an actual expert in destructive testing of gas cylinders in a controversy where condition of gas cylinder is of critical importance. Not just from NGOs and neocon think tanks.
Dan Rather's downfall came because (as I recall) a typewriter specialist was able to recognize that fonts in forged document were not available in 1970s. An expert in relevant narrow topic observed detail that eluded the news reporters and think tanks.
outing of Dan Rather was cool and one of first examples of outside eyes on establishment narrative. IMO an expert in destructive testing of gas cylinders is similarly the sort of person one wants to hear from in assessing flawed mainstream media arguments for bombing Syria

Discussion of Rathergate in comparison to more recent MSMS hoaxes. I don't have a Twatter account but I sometimes dip in there to see what it being discussed on various topics.
Any FReepers who do tweet might like to update/elaborate on this (linked) Twitter thread to explain the Rathergate hoax in better detail and show how MSM hoaxes through the years can be debunked by quality internet sleuthing.

He sure did. He deserves some sort of permanent place of honor at FR. Maybe a wreath/plaque sort of thing that members see when they make a donation.

Yes indeed, that is why I am hoping one or more FReepers who do Twitter might get on that thread and enlighten the masses about the real story of Buckhead vs. Rathergate.
Especially since there has been so much #FakeNews b.s. spewed on that subject over the past 15 years or so, including a #FakeNews Hollyweird movie that gave only Rather/Mapes propaganda.

Ofc now I am simply making fun of MSM hoaxes.... the original topic was arcane expertise which leads to exposure of a hoax, but some of these memes are simply making fun of the MSM hoaxers and/or simple non-expert mistakes such as using the same damage photo for alleged “live” events in 2 different years.
