longest government shutdown in history over nothing. Democrats have agreed to fund $1.375 billion for 55 miles of physical barrier along the border, which is only a little different than what Trump would have gotten under a continuing resolution that funded the government at current levels and far less than the $5.7 billion Trump demanded to build 230 miles of barriers that experts and the Department of Homeland Security said they need to secure the border.
But Trump can still get the rest of the money without a government shutdown or declaring a national emergency...
To win, Trump needs to shift the debate to a place where he has real leverage: using the threat of a sequester, rather than a shutdown, to force the Democrats to give him his border barrier. In 10 months time, if Congress fails to act, then an automatic sequester will kick in that would reduce federal spending in 2020 to levels that Congress and President Barack Obama set in the Budget Control Act of 2011. Congress agreed to lift those spending caps for two years in 2018, increasing both defense and nondefense discretionary spending above sequester levels by $165 billion and $131 billion, respectively. But that deal runs out at the end of the year. If Congress does not lift the caps by December, then automatic $55 billion across-the-board cuts to domestic discretionary spending will take place, while defense spending will be cut by $71 billion...

You da man!
.
Painting the Dems in a corner in 2020 is a winning situation .
This is a marathon, not a sprint.
The Bezos Bulletin’s token conservative.
Tell Kamala no matter where Trump goes, he sees the same hoes...
10 USC 284 (B) (7)
No national emergency declaration is needed to income this law. He’s already sent Army Engineer, Engineer Sapper, and military police Batallions there in the thousands of troops
And equipment too. Along with Public Affairs & Preventative Medicine troops
Something’s up.
Invoke ....the law... autocorrect at it again
Never, I mean NEVER underestimate this man. OK, Dems carry on as usual.
The shutdown was over nothing if we accept less than the Senate had passed before the shutdown.
How about the Governors of Texas and Arizona both declare a State of Emergency due to the incoming flood, and the POTUS grants each state a few Billion $ to build border barriers.
This is an interesting approach.
Also, Mulvaney keeps saying the administration has already identified other sources of funding in the federal budget that is available to them for use in wall construction. I have not heard any specifics on that, but would like to.
That’s brilliant! And he can tell Congress this now, and give them a chance to up the ante now and avoid it later.
“In 10 months time...”
BS, give them 10 days, THEN DO IT.
Why, when we can do the same thing and get a shut down too. It's only my self-absorbed idiot neighbors in DC who think that a shut-down is bad [I do feel for the CG, but that is on Bush. He created DHS, he didn't need to give one of the best outfits in the US to arguably the worst].
“El Chapo” could pay for it.
Never do what Bezos wants you to do Mr. President.
I LIKE the shutdown. Do it again.

WINNING.
DJT, here for this time for a reason. THIS is the reason he was elected (even with the negative know-it-alls telling US it would never happen).
Thank You, Father.
Amen.
MAGA/KAG
For whom? He could've done this without the first shutdown, and without a restriction on beds for invader criminals. Heck, he could've done it the first budget Paul Ryan wrote, demanding some wall money back then and maneuvering for more.
