Doesnt anyone ask themselves why there hasnt been a cure for any disease in the last 100 years?
Decree?
Some writers can’t address issues without an insane front-loaded non-valid barb thrust in below the fourth rib.
Actually - yes they can.
Its what the health and human services board has been doing for years. (Heres what well pay for x)
Also dont forget that Nixon froze prices on goods by executive order.
Of course if a Democrat did it - theyd be heroes. They just dont want Trump doing it.
Yep, drugs developed & FDA approved here with costs in the millions per drug...then after a few years of recouping development cost and making a profit, drug companies begin selling to socialized countries medical plans at just above production cost (govt. mandated prices...Canada & Europe and S. America). Development cost is recouped in the U.S. and “just over production cost” profit is earned in socialized countries. All the “generics” I have see myself lately are already made “offshore”...India mainly...don’t see how importing more drugs helps anything and adds the danger of 3rd world manufacturing processes.
“Say goodbye to new drugs.”
Terrible news if you are Huey Lewis.
Well, the thought is there.
Lower prices here, raise prices there.
You have probably hit on the greatest indirect cost of drug research and development. The research does go on, at laboratories large and small, but only the biggest pharmaceutical firms have the necessary capital and incentive to proceed with the long-term testing demanded by both the FDA and by pressures for protection against litigation or harassment lawsuits by a special category of ambulance-chasers. Thousands of “orphan” drugs languish because of high restrictions on applications for study, or because of threatened or actual lawsuits, resulting in preemptive withdrawal from marketing.
Half of prescription drugs should be over the counter. One of the unreported costs of drugs is the hundreds of dollars just to see a doctor and get the prescription.... before you ever go to the pharmacist.
Yes, the skin cream is dangerous if taken internally. So are my kitchen knives if taken internally.
Yes, half of drugs should still require a prescription. For you libertarians... support creeping libertarianism.

How do all the big drug companies that are not based in the US manage to do it?
Too true. Americans are being ripped off by big Pharma.
Two very common medicines (non generic) given to heart attack patients have been withdrawn from use in the US due to cancer risks. Made in China
How does this work, exactly? Are you going to diagnose your own high blood pressure or cholesterol levels and then decide which drug has the best chance of treating your condition, and the dose necessary? What happens if, after you decide on your own that you have a couple of serious health conditions that need treatment, you buy the drugs OTC and they have serious interactions with each other?
My point is that there are very strong reasons that medical advice is necessary before most drugs are prescribed. Very few people have the knowledge to diagnose and prescribe appropriately. And even the ones who do, should not be diagnosing and prescribing for themselves.
US companies sell the same drugs an order of magnitude cheaper in other countries.
What is wrong with this picture?
You can still go to the doctor and he can tell you how much of the non-prescription drugs you should be taking.
Or is that not control-freak enough for ya?
“Drug costs here in the US are due to the cost of developing these drugs.”
Horse manure. A common antibiotic I buy for my animals has gone from $5 for 14 ml in 2007 to $40 today.
Big Pharma has money in every pocket in Congress. Lowering the price of medicine will not be an easy task.
The dope industry is gaming the system. They make minor imperceptible changes and patent protocols to prevent generics from being approved. They pay their whores, oops congressmen, to bigly lengthen the time the patent is extended.
Trump is right on this. The free traitors love it, but them sodomizing American patients over drugs that are close to free in other markets is pissing off Americans.

Not just partially.
In it's entirety.
And here is why: one of the traditional functions of pharmacies be they so termed or apothecaries or whatever (for thousands of years) has been to test medication provided by the patient.
So, with functional pharmacies you can have a sample of your medication tested, and they can tell you what is in it.
