“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

George Orwell, 1984

YouTube has announced that it will no longer recommend videos that "come close to" violating its community guidelines, such as conspiracy or medically inaccurate videos.

Medically inaccurate? So all those kooky "organic food" promoters and the anti-GMO nutcases? What about the fear-mongers trashing Roundup?

It’s a good thing for YouTube that no one else will ever be able to create a video sharing website that’s supported by advertising.

They have been doing it for awhile now. What they recommend is liberal green and global socialism garbage that has absolutely nothing to do with how to tighten a chain on a motorcycle or sailing tips. It’s ridiculous.

There is NO 100% politically unbiased view of what is or is not a conspiracy theory, and very often a view that something is not 100% correct medically speaking is a matter of one medical opinion over another, not any such thing as a “consensus”.

The problem is that correctly defined Youtube and its parent company are private companies and can make judgement calls as they see fit, but the market facts are that they are near monopolies and as such are operating near to the market monopolies of “public utilities” without being regulated as public utilities.

There are only two solutions at this time. One is for Google et al - including Facebook - to voluntarily exit 100% any role of censoring content - the sheeple need to do their own due diligence. The other is to regulate them as public utilities and ban them from censoring content.

The most massive conspiracy of all time is the global warming hoax. We can be certain this too will be terminated on YouTube as per their community standards policy.

YouTube said in the post that the action is meant to "reduce the spread of content that comes close to — but doesn't quite cross the line of — violating" its community policies.

What's the point of establishing a policy that you then say doesn't mean anything?

I am not an ardent follower of Q-Anon, less so as time goes on... but I wonder if that counts as ‘conspiracy’ to them.

Alternatives to the hegemony of GOOG, FB and TWTR are necessary. There still remains the problem that the infrastructure connecting the internet/cell phones is highly concentrated and regulated; and that these companies are very close to US government agencies; and that competitors to them get marginalized by the MSM eg Gab was blamed for the synagogue shooting in PA. They are all too close to each other now.

One bright spot is that the courts have upheld restrictions on involuntary data collection by states and localities - they cannot force you to turn over your data or enter your password or fingerprint/face-recognition. But the real problem isn’t at the local level. It’s systemic.

I’m now using DuckDuckGo, which is great. And I find myself using Dailymotion and Vimeo more and more for videos. It may take a year or two, but these businesses are soon going to find that freedom loving Americans will discover and create better alternatives. Just say NO to Google and all its evil relatives.

I bet #MAGA is a “conspiracy” but #resist is a “movement” according to google.

60+ million of us are conspiring to re-elect Trump. No doubt that youtubers like Diamond and Silk “come close to” encouraging our conspiracy and cannot be recommended. But there are plenty of “Trump is literally Hitler” videos that can be recommended instead.

So no more "Trump colluded with Russia" videos then? Too bad, CNN. That's 90% of your content!

Oh wait, that conspiracy theory is okay with Google.

Conspiracy doesn’t mean that it is not real. Just that two or more are involved.
