WASHINGTON A divided Supreme Court stopped Louisiana from enforcing new regulations on abortion clinics in a test of the conservative courts views on abortion rights.
The justices said by a 5-4 vote late Thursday that they will not allow the state to put into effect a law that requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

They have something on him, probably more than one thing.
i see so many whistle blowers get settlements after retaliation, but I was one who didn’t. fortunately, I have a comfortable retirement.
Thomas Jefferson said in his letters that giving this office a life term is a great mistake. But there you are, this is why. They cannot be held accountable for misinterpreting the Constitution.
Justice Roberts joined 4 liberal justices to PUT A HOLD on the law pending a full review .
If he had any balls if he doesnt want to come out about it, he should step down.
But ofmcourse he’s like most people who get a lot of power, they pretty much will die before giving it up.
Many of the founders espoused the view that the Supreme Court was not the sole arbitrator of all constitutional issues, and could not hold such power to make such irrevocable decisions. Thomas Jefferson famously made a political career of opposing the federal judiciary in rendering opinions as law. Realizing that the Supreme Court did not take up any of the appeals of those convicted under the Sedition Act, he drafted the Kentucky Resolution of 1798. Considering the development of the Marshall Court, he wrote that a general judiciary with the power to make such decisions as law was dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy.[3] Jefferson wisely recognized the truth: The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal to operate in such a manner.
Thank you for that background, saving us time from having to read more deeply.
Many of us who are short on time should be in the habit to treat reports like this with suspicion, as you pointed out, it’s so easy to be misled.
I refused to vote for him the first time. I saw what they did to the other candidates in 2000, and I refused to be a part of it. I think he damaged us more than anyone realizes.
With Gore we would have had an enemy we could recognize. With Bush, he could pull any old B. S. he wanted, and the globalist House and Senate would let him get away with it. Gore, they would have opposed for doing the same things.
I can easily identify with where you’re coming from there.
I saw what the part did to Buchanan in 1996. It was very ugly. They called him the next Hitler.
I voted for Dole, but I had never felt so filthy after voting in my life. Bush caught the tale end of that. I wasn’t in a mood to play along in 2000, and I didn’t.
The Party has been dead to me since 1996. I’m still registered as a Republican, and I vote for them to avoid others, but I am not a happy camper with our leadership.
I get solicitation from the RNC all the time, and I blister them in the prepaid envelopes.
He doesn’t want his court to have a reputation of being politically bias to one side or the other. He’s obsessed with that thinking. That’s why he found some lame argument to keep Obamacare. He didn’t want his court to kill it. When Kennedy retired, everyone knew Roberts would slide to the center to try to maintain the balance. He wants it to be a split court.
If RBG dies and Trump puts on another conservative, Roberts will likely move to the left for good in order to try and keep the balance.
I think we’re in a hard position with those judges. I don’t think we see enough of their record to know. They’re obviously not going to shoot straight with us, so we get bamboozled all too often.
SCOTUS lied and women died.
Too late!
GOD DAMN the BUSHES!
I say that the vote was 4-4. Any vote that the court takes at this point that adds up to 9 has to be considered fraud. Sadly, the vote of the court cannot be appealed to a higher court. But no one should obey this ruling until it’s proven that 5 people actually voted for it.
Joins? Dont you have to be apart for a time to join something?
According to the article, JUSTICE ROBERTS JOINED FOUR LIBERAL JUSTICES TO PUT A HOLD ON THE LAW UNTIL FURTHER REVIEW.
The case was about forcing hospital privileges on these nasty abortion doctors. The case was not going to stop abortion, unless doctors fail to comply with Alitos 45 day extension, as I understood it.
Roberts is no conservative, I realize that. Thx.
The moral to this sick story is that Louisiana should tell the supreme court to go fark themselves.
“Make us you black robed pimps”
What every state should’ve done with roe v wade
And there he is
We the People are pretty low down on the list of authorities it seems around here.
