SANTA FE Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has ordered New Mexico to join a national coalition of states seeking to combat the effects of climate change, as part of a far-reaching plan to shift the state toward a renewable energy economy.
At a news conference in the state Capitol, the Democratic governor described the order as a game-changer that outlines broad, state-level initiatives to make up for a lack of federal action on climate change.
We want to make sure we are doing something irrespective of failed policies and a lack of science going on at the federal level today, Lujan Grisham told a crowd that included environmental advocates and schoolchildren.
The executive order calls for New Mexico to join 18 other states in the U.S. Climate Alliance. The coalition, formed in 2017 after President Donald Trump announced the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, commits member states to implement policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Lujan Grisham specifically called for New Mexico to cut its emissions by 45 percent below 2005 levels over the next 12 years.
Under the governors order, a climate change task force will evaluate potential policies and regulations, such as:
A market-based program that sets statewide emission limits.
New emissions standards for light-duty vehicles sold in New Mexico.
Updated building codes.
Creation of transmission lines and infrastructure to get renewable energy from clean power plants to market.
... in her first address to the Legislature this month, Lujan Grisham called for new mandates that would require public utilities to derive at least 50 percent of their electricity from renewable sources by 2030, and possibly 80 percent by 2040.

The Alliance of ,lets see how much we can steal from them before they throw us out or are they real idiots and let us stay
Just wait until the last few states have voted to call a Convention of States and these libtard states derail the Convention and throw out the US Constitution for a brand new Marxist/Democratic Socialist monstrosity.
Article I, Section 10 of the United States Constitution provides that “No State shall, without the Consent of Congress... enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State.”
Waiting fo PG&E to move to the state ...
A convention of states needs 38 states to make any changes to the constitution. 18 liberal states are not a threat.
U.S. Climate Alliance?
So, there are 19 states where this Glo-Bull warming insanity is being foisted on their citizens?
Good Grief!
When are the American people going to wake up and rid themselves of these insane people?
Well we all know the concern for rising sea levels in NM. My sympathies.
Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) may shed more than $40 billion worth of power purchase agreements after the California utility was driven into bankruptcy by liabilities for sparking deadly wildfires, The Wall Street Journal reports.
PG&E wants the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in San Francisco to rule whether the company must honor $42 billion worth of contracts with about 350 different energy suppliers, mostly solar and wind plants.
The courts decision could have a major impact on Californias renewable energy industry and power makeup. Many green energy suppliers only do business with PG&E, Californias largest utility. Shedding those contracts would likely drive those companies under and cripple Californias ability to meet energy goals set by the state government.
A lot of companies are in that position, where PG&E is responsible for 100% of their revenues, Credit Benchmark lead researcher David Carruthers told WSJ.
Former California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation in September that mandated the state run on 100 percent green energy by 2045. It also bumped a previous target of 50 percent by 2030 to 60 percent.
The goals set by government officials were optimistic before PG&E filed for bankruptcy Tuesday. Californias grid operator has paid surrounding states on several occasions to take excess power off Californias grid caused by overproducing solar and wind farms.
The companys plans to shed its losses to renewable energy suppliers may fail if the court rules that federal regulators, not the bankruptcy court, have the authority to deem whether such contracts still apply, according to WSJ.
PG&E filed bankruptcy as the only viable option to escape potentially $30 billion worth of liabilities for sparking major wildfires in 2017 and 2018. State investigators found the utility sparked a dozen major fires in 2017 through poorly maintained powerlines and equipment.
Wildfires in 2018 are still under investigation, including the Camp Fire that killed 86 people and all but destroyed the town of Paradise. The fire is the deadliest in state history.
See my post #9.
Nice going Louanne you California wannabe.
“...and schoolchildren...”
Now that is raw evil!

How about we ask each INDIVIDUAL STATE to PROOVE that they can do something to combat imaginary ‘Climate Change’ in their state, first?
I mean, if it works for one state, then all the other states can do what they do, too!
I can say this because it won’t do a d@mn thing; ‘Climate Change’ is a money grab, a redistribution of wealth by the Globalists. But, we already know that. ;)
Some Pubbie should introduce legislation telling the Green/Red Socialists that Mother Government will give them every dime they want for ‘Global Warming’ IF they allow Roe v. Wade to be abolished.
That would get ‘em fighting among themselves! ;)
So “climate change” will be halted over NM, but not elsewhere.
“Article I, Section 10 of the United States Constitution provides that No State shall, without the Consent of Congress... enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State.”
Shhhhhhhhh... Don’t give them any ideas.
“...cut its emissions by 45 percent below 2005 levels...”
“Ye cannae change laws of physics”
Lawyers are such idiots.
“So climate change will be halted over NM, but not elsewhere.”
This isn’t about climate change. It’s about voting as a block to give the total electoral votes to a candidate based on the popular vote.
I cannot access it now, but I would be curious as to the states that want to pool their votes with the states involved in this scam.
