Illegals would still spill across the border with no effective measure to stop the flood. Today, a wall would work, and end the controversy.
Democrats don't want solutions, they want continuing controversies.

Of course the Dems realize that if he has to go the way of declaring a National Emergency, DACA etc is off the table.

Many of the democrats are deviant power mongers and can’t help themselves. Hope they burn in hell for hurting America.
They sat there and made this highly public stand on an issue where Trump had no success even when the REPUBLICANS controlled both houses of Congress.
In other words, Pelosi and Schumer have allowed themselves to replace the GOP as the "bad guys" on border security in the eyes of Americans who have been clamoring about illegal immigration for years.
I see it all as a big Win. But we need to seal the deal in 3 weeks, and I think we will.
If there are specific reasons (I would love to read something that reverses my pessimism right now) the left to be panicked in that article, I missed them.

Why would the Democrats panic? Trump was outfoxed by a demented old lady and a slimy worm. He’s yapping a lot about Feb 15 but so far its been all speculation but no action. He is Commander in Chief. He can constitutionally order the Army Corp of Engineers to start building that wall tomorrow without declaring an emergency. Yet he talks but does not act.

But he has calculated the risks and knows that though he may lose here and there (and may lose big from time to time), he can win the game in the end.
Is he absolutely certain? Of course not.
No one is absolutely certain about anything.
But he knows the fix our country is in and he knows that, if he plays it safe, we run a greater risk of losing everything (the Dems are playing for keeps after all).
Are the Democrats scared of Trump?
Take a look at their faces. Do they look confident?
They know that Trump is playing for keeps too. And he plans to win.

Because every Republican they have dealt with since Reagan has either caved into them or has their same goals in mind. Hard to tell which but I think it’s the latter
