Capitalism isn't immoral, Socialism is
The Daily Dose of Reason ^ | January 23, 2019 | Dr. Michael J Hurd

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview on Monday that she believes a system that allows people to become billionaires is “immoral.”

Wrong, fool. A system that doesn’t permit people to keep what they earn, that punishes success and achievement while rewarding legalized plunder of the unearned for political gain is immoral. A system that results not in economic prosperity and a rise in the standard of living for each generation, but instead results in stagnation, mediocrity and ultimately despair–THAT’S immoral.

Marxist socialism is not a credible system. It dismisses the entire idea of Christian love. It assumes that people become rich merely wishing to be selfish. But that doesn’t have to be so at all.

And if I am poor, I am very glad to have a job for a rich man, and even more so, a rich and generous man. I do not care if he is a trillionaire. God bless him with his trillion dollars.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods. It doesn’t matter if you want them for yourself, your other neighbor, or the government.

Envy gets you nowhere with God (and envy was the serpent’s song and dance in the Garden). Thankfulness gets you far.

Socialism is evil and America must be politically cleansed of it.

Capitalism produces EVERYTHING socialists wish to “redistribute.”

The minute socialists succeed in destroying capitalism is the minute they run out of things to “redistribute.”

An examination of the history of nations reveals the long and arduous struggle by human beings for individual liberty--from kings, from masters, from whatever description fitted those other human beings who gained power and exercised it over their fellow citizens, disavowing the Creator-endowed rights of those fellows.

By whatever semantic maneuver those power holders chose to identify themselves, no matter how benevolent they purported to be, the end was the same: some individuals in the society or group were denied their Creator-endowed rights to be free.

In America, in the Year 1776, a genius group of freedom loving individuals declared a set of principles by which, if accepted, a society of like-minded individuals could enjoy "the pursuit of happiness."

Eleven years later, they "constituted" a form of self-government to assure that the goals of their Constitution's Preamble were to become reality for the nation.

The Preamble began with the words,

We, the People. . . .

The goal, of course, was the expansion, or enlargement, of liberty for individuals in the society--not the enlargement of government!

Perhaps Donald Trump's greatest achievement to this point can be described as one man's effort to "expand liberty" for individuals and to "contract government power," thereby allowing just a little individual freedom to flourish as it did in America both prior to 1776 and thereafter.

By the way, has anyone here read Burke's Speech on Conciliation. . . . lately? If not, please read his description of how the "spirit of liberty" among the colonists, even before 1776, had resulted in the American colonies literally "feeding" the Old World!

The word, "liberty," should, once again become the watchword for American citizens.

I had a sociology teacher, an admitted socialist, who obsessed constantly over what Bill Gates had and he didn’t. When he wasn’t calling conservatives racist, that is. He must have been making good money as a teacher; did he share any of it with everyone else? But you couldn’t tell him that if you wanted to pass his useless class.

It is opposed to the innate human spirit.

Its why no one demands to be living in a socialist system.

Make an effort, get a reward.

That’s what is moral.

Socialism doesn’t believe that and is immoral, period.

Capitalism: amoral. Can be used well or ill.

Socialism: immoral. Cannot be used well.

It boils down to private property rights. The word for someone that doesn’t respect private property rights is a thief. Theft is immoral, always has been, always will be. Socialism is the denial of private property rights at the state level, therefore it’s theft and is immoral.
