He claimed he was a Recon Ranger there is no such thing as a Marine Recon Ranger, Rangers are in the Army.
Retired US Navy SEAL Don Shipley, who is known for publicly outing people for stolen valor, obtained Nathan Phillips DD-214 form and exposed the truth.
Nathan Phillips was enlisted under the name Nathaniel Richard Stanard.
Nathaniel Phillips enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves on May 20th, 1972 and served until May 5th, 1976, Don Shipley said as he read the DD-214 form.
He served under just four years and was discharged at the exalted rank of Private' Shipley said sarcastically.
Shipley continued, His entire military education was as a basic electrician in the Marine Corps while he served in Lincoln, Nebraska, he served as a refer mach.
Nathan Phillips went AWOL THREE TIMES while he was stationed at El Toro Marine Base in Southern California, according to his DD-214 form.

Ironically, the “crying Indian” in your picture was actually of Italian descent.
He was no Code Talker
Well when I was in Nam, I was a... Pink Beret!
You'd be surprised how many VC... surrendered to Bendy.
Really, Big... Ya know that make you an raging anti-robotite--
Gadzooks, you know, if I'd just drank a little more... I'd have won that damn war!
And what a wonderful world it would be... now--
Thanks. As soon as I saw ‘reserve’ I wondered how he managed a four year-long stint. It’s kind of crazy to go Marine Reserve, to me. If you don’t want a full bite, then don’t assume the misery of Marine boot camp in the first place. Also, I thought reserve enlistment was for a minimum of six years. But that’s just me.
Nathan Phillips DD-214 bump
E-1 after 4 years? Dirtbag screwuo.
That's funny!
Back in Nebraska, Omaha tribal Chairman Elmer Blackbird did not return calls seeking comment about Phillips’ vigil.
Privately, another tribal leader said Phillips is regarded back in Nebraska as a well-intentioned brother struggling to cope with a troubled childhood. The leader said the Omaha Tribe generally avoids the type of activism Phillips prefers.
“He’s just trying to find his way,” the leader said. “Let him find it.”
At the chow hall on the Norfolk NOB, I saw a seaman (E-3) with gold seaman stripes and three gold hash marks (total of twelve year’s service). Never could figure out how you get gold stripes yet remain a seaman for over twelve years. If your conduct was bad and you busted down to seaman, then you wouldn’t get gold stripes.
What it told me was he spent twelve years doing a good job while lacking the ambition or smarts to advance himself, with the accompanying pay increases, from E-3. Still can’t figure it out.
So, reading between the lines: he is the stupid cousin they wish they were not relate to.
Interesting. Bump
The high cheek boned guy with dirty greasy stringy hair walked over to the boy and pounded on his stupid drum 2 inches from his face. He was clearly trying to incite a reaction. I think that’s why everyone in the media is mad at the boy, he showed restraint that I don’t think I would have.
The VC saw the pink beret and thought Bendy spoke French. They figgered him out too late when he offered them a choice between a Lone Star longneck or Shiner Bock.
+1 lol
or that he was not very smart and ub=nable to pass the proficiency test for E4.
He could be a mix of black and Native. Red bone is the colloquial term.
Btw the famous Indian crying tv commercial? Turns out that guy wasnt Native American at all. Sicilian.
He must have been dumb as a post
but not so dumb as to lose gold striping.
I don’t want to work.
I want to bang on the drum all day
Thanks for the DD214 info on Nathan Phillips.
Pretty much confirmed what I suspected.
