President Trump did not speak with Michael Cohen before he testified falsely before Congress about plans to develop a skyscraper in Moscow during the 2016 campaign, Rudy Giuliani said Monday, backing off previous assertions that such talks may have taken place.
The former New York mayor, who serves as Trump’s top lawyer in Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, said he had confirmed the matter with previous members of the President’s legal team, including ex-lead counsel John Dowd.
“The President never spoke with Cohen about the congressional testimony,” Giuliani told the Daily News.
However, Giuliani acknowledged Trump’s legal team conversed with Cohen’s lawyers — and possibly Cohen himself — before he went before the House and Senate intelligence committees in September 2017 and falsely testified that discussions to develop a Trump Tower in Moscow ended in January 2016.
“Anything that happened between the lawyers would have been part of the joint defense agreement,” Giuliani said, claiming all parties involved believed at the time that Cohen’s planned testimony was truthful.

Can somebody tell us why Cohen felt a need to fudge on when the tower discussions ended? Before his election, Trump had every right to talk with Russians about a real estate investment. It would have been a private deal.

As much as I respect Rudy he makes me nervous never know when he’ll go off message.
Frankly, I don’t think Cohen is a very good lawyer. New York is full of these types. He may be good at day to day stuff, including dealings with bureaucracy, but he’s not somebody who is up to national level dealings.
He’s basically an expeditor, that is, a person you hire to make sure your bureaucratic dealings go well...they’ll submit applications for you, turn up to defend them, etc. They’re very important in a bureaucratic culture such as New York. They’re all over the place in Europe and in fact you can take special courses designed to prepare you for this career track.

BTW, Victoria Toensing and Joe Digenova (as well as many others who’s opinion I respect) are huge fans of Barr and that is good enough for me.
Even “within ethics rules” yields a helluva lotta latitude for bullying, threats, and other assorted skulduggery that, by rights, oughta get a man shot dead on the spot.
So asserting that’s how you try to play the game, isn’t asserting all that much; them “ethics rules” ain’t all that straight, and they sure’s Hell ain’t narrow.
He has misspoken before.. Age and his past life style are destroying what was once a good man...
