Steve King slams GOP leaders for 'political decision' over comments on white supremacy
The Hill ^ | 01/14/19 | Justin Wise

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Monday denounced GOP leaders' move to remove him from all committee assignments, calling it a "political decision that ignores the truth."

“[House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.)] decision to remove me from committees is a political decision that ignores the truth," King said in a statement shortly after McCarthy told reporters that the Iowa congressman would not receive any committee assignments in the new Congress.

King was previously a member of the House Judiciary, Agriculture and Small Business committees. He had also served as chairman of a House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice in the last Congress.

The decision to strip him of those assignments came just days after King questioned why terms such as "white nationalist" and "white supremacist" were offensive in an interview with The New York Times.

"White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” King asked in the interview, which was published last Thursday.

The comments generated criticism from Democratic and Republican lawmakers, with McCarthy saying over the weekend that action would be taken in response.

King said that his comments have been "completely mischaracterized."

"When I used the word ‘THAT’ it was in reference ONLY to Western Civilization and NOT to any previously stated evil ideology ALL of which I have denounced," King said. "My record as a vocal advocate for Western Civilization is nearly as full as my record in defense of Freedom of Speech."

He added that he "ultimately" told McCarthy: "You have to do what you have to do and I will do what I have to do."

Two Democratic lawmakers on Monday introduced resolutions to formally censure King over his statements. House Democrats are expected to place a resolution to formally rebuke him that was introduced by Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.) on the floor for a vote on Tuesday.

Exactly, Steve King is one of the few who has been clearly on the side of the citizens and the rule of law and making all the Bush League Republicans look bad.

The GOP leaders abandoned Roy Moore in the Special Election in Alabama back in 2017 and they don’t really want anyone who takes a tough stand on much of anything to get elected and serve in Congress.

Donald Trump told me to in essence to vote for these people who are punishing Mr. King last fall.

I didn’t go along with it 100 percent because I think so many of the GOP’s elected officials are phony baloney wishy washy and so on.

What does the POTUS have to say about it?

More kiss up to the GOP leaders blah blah in the House.

Good for King. The GOP is full of spineless jellyfish who are part of the reason we are where we are. If they are so concerned about race issues how about starting with groups like the black & Hispanic Caucuses or LaRaza or the NAACP or any of the other hundreds if not thousands of race based groups?

Representative King admitted his error in consenting to an unrecorded telephone interview by the New York Slime, suggesting it was a freshman mistake to do so.

McCarthy is showing his true colors as Paul Ryan redux in bending to the lies of the MSM and the DemonRat power brokers. We have another spineless GOPe in a leadership position!!

The quotes were taken entirely out of context. He was enumerating some things (isms) that were bad, among them white nationalism, etc, then paused and said, “western civilization .... how did that become bad?” And he defended the achievements of Western Civilization.

The NYT completely distorted it.

I’m Pro-White. I love being white. What is wrong with White Pride? There is Black Pride, Latino Pride, Brown Pride, Homo-Pride; pride..pride pride. So I am proud of what my White race has accomplished? Yeah, FULLY proud. I am a WHITE NATIONALIST. I love my country, I love my culture; I love that multi-generations of my WHITE family have served protecting this country including myself (4th generation) and my son now a 5th generation. Seems the reverse racists don’t want to acknowledge us White people risking it all. Fuck them. I am absolutely done with cowering to PC race bullshit.
I just have one problem with what you said:

"Seems the reverse racists don’t want to acknowledge us White people risking it all."

They're not "reverse" racists... they're simply RACIST! In fact, racism against White people is the worst since it's actually institutionalized racism promoted by every aspect of society (ie: government, the workplace, entertainment, schools).

What the heck is Romney doing jumping on the “condemn” bandwagon. I swear, Romney gets worse by the day and he is already rock bottom.

All commas matter. Or they used to. It is obvious he was not defending an racist ideology.

He most certainly HAS disputed it. But yeah, he should have recorded it

I have a better idea - don’t do the interview. I mean, what a complete moron.

He must know that there are those in the media that are looking for gotcha quotes. And he didn’t not have his staff record the interview himself.

Really, really stupid.

The GOPe continues on the road to destruction.

If they had the power to censure Trump for stating the obvious after Charlottesville, they would.

I'll continue to vote, and work for Rs as long as Trump is in office. After he leaves, I'll again wave my "no party affiliation" high in the air.

“But hey, what do I know. Go ahead Republicans, go get out the knee pads.”

It’s been more than two years since they had a Rat master in the White House.

Moses was only on the mountain a few weeks....

King’s wording is very awkward, so it’s hard to look at the sentence structure and be positive what he meant. People just have to believe or not believe his after-the-fact explanation.

My comment is mainly that the terms “white nationalist” and “white nationalism” have recently been made common by the leftists and the leftist media. It was used extensively after the Charlottesville event and is now commonly used to label Trump supporters and anyone who believes in US sovereignty and enforcement of immigration laws.

“King has been saying stupid things for years. He almost lost a very safe seat in November. He needs to go find a real job”

Yes, that’s exactly the response Big Media wants.

They almost got him in November.

The Rats KNOW they are at war against America and all for which we stand.

Republicans are so good at groveling when the Dems pull out the race card. They cant get on their knees fast enough. Like blackbirds on a powerline when one grovels they all grovel.

Trumps the only one with balls and why we love him and why they hate him. Like Rush said yesterday, the left will always bully and portray all whites as some kind of -ist or -ism (except the ruling leftist and globalists who pull the strings). We need to fight back against their identity politics out of principle instead of knuckling under one by one. They use their media against us always and yet Steve King gave these bullies an unrecorded interview.

Just do a search of his comments.
Just because the guy is a conservative doesn’t give him a pass.
