Newt Gingrich: Reported FBI probe of Trump was led by anti-Trump fanatics who betrayed Constitution
Fox News ^ | January 12, 2019 | Newt Gingrich

The extraordinary story published Friday night in The New York Times headlined “F.B.I. Opened Inquiry into Whether Trump was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia” tells us how deeply sick the Washington establishment has become.

A group of bureaucrats – elected by no one – sat in a room and decided they would investigate the new president of the United States for possible treason. Let me repeat: treason. This is, after all, the implication of this investigation.

This group of bureaucrats reports to no one in elected authority. In a Justice Department where employees gave 97 percent of their presidential campaign contributions to Hillary Clinton, the hostility toward – and fear of – newly elected President Trump was deep.

The senior members of the Justice Department (all promoted under the Obama administration) were clearly prepared to go all-out to repudiate the verdict of the American people in the 2016 election.

Further, these were Justice Department bureaucrats who had ignored the Clinton Foundation scandals, minimized the investigation into the Clinton email and Internet scandal, and ignored former President Clinton collecting money from Russians overseas while his wife was secretary of state.

Suddenly, these hitherto passive, dispassionate, and tolerant “law enforcement” bureaucrats were galvanized into investigating a president for possible treason.

When they made this decision, who did they share it with? Obviously, they could not go to President Trump, since he was the target of their investigation.

FBI is even more corrupt than DOJ in my opinion. Director Colmi is the personification of the “crooked cop” and he had many many years to corrupt the organization.

The FBI recruits from the Ivy’s etc., and is inundated in the hierarchy with people too arrogant and self-convinced to know they’re actually clueless. People like this have markedly reduced the quality of the FBI, and it’s now a political organization. Think ex-Sheriff Israel in Florida and you have a perfect example of the politicization of law enforcement.

It’s obvious the ef-be-eye is no different than any other government agency filled with liberal hacks. And then so many politicians stand up and say what class acts these guys are.

Lindsey? Where are you? Please take a few minutes and stop whatever you are into long enough to crank out some congressional subpoenas. 2020 is coming. Deal?

Central government work draws leftists like honey does flies - or perhaps I should say locusts.

Conservatives prefer independence and the private sector.

He should have done on Day One.

I expected him to do so.

I was dismayed when he did not.

According to my best possible research, all the key players are in the Senior Executive Service [S.E.S.] - which I now call Deep State Central.

In one of his latest tweets, the President said, referring to this corruption, “Just watch,” implying something would be done about it.

President Trump, I’ve been watching since the mid 1990s when I first got interested in politics. All I’ve seen since then is a slow downhill slide. Your presidency, fortunately, has brought this to a head. Sir, we’re watching, have been watching for years. All we see is things getting worse and more corrupt. I sincerely hope you see a way out of this mire. Thanks.

If you don't understand the ramifications of that, then in my opinion you're on the wrong forum.

If most of the people here think politicians should be deciding who to investigate then you might be right.

“In a Justice Department where employees gave 97 percent of their presidential campaign contributions to Hillary Clinton”

Is this true??? I’ve been told over and over that the Justice Department folks are nearly all conservative, with just a few bad apples at the top.

If most of the people here think politicians should be deciding who to investigate then you might be right.

Most people on this site support the US Constitution.

The Constitution makes the president the Chief Executive, who is responsible for executive functions. The DOJ, which performs executive functions, answers to the Chief Executive. The Chief Executive answers to the voters and in cases of impeachment, the Chief Executive answers to Congress who in turn answers to the voters.

So you would change all that and the Constitution and make the executive functions in the DOJ unaccountable to anybody?

Take it up with Newt.

He’s the one who said that the FBI, which reports to the DOJ, is “This group of bureaucrats (that) reports to no one in elected authority."

Of course he’d like you to believe that so you would give political hacks like him police powers.

Have fun in that world. Just don’t look around expecting to find any of the framers of our Constitution.

Time to get the video of Chuck Schummer stating in an interview that President Trump should be careful when criticizing the intelligence community, they can get you 6 ways to Sunday.
What did Schummer know? Was he sending signals?

You didn't answer the question.

The the DOJ is acting like it doesn't answer to the Chief Executive.

You are fine with that?

Yes, it's true.

As soon as 0bama was inaugurated his AG Eric (the Red) Holder hired only liberal attorney's. It was so bad that good people like Hans A. von Spakovsky, J. Christian Adams and others quit the DOJ.

There are a series of articles by them called 'Every Single One': PJ Media's Investigation of Justice Department Hiring Practices that are excellent that proves just how corrupt 0bama and Holder were in the hiring of DOJ attorneys, they are excellent.

Also, you can enter keywords "voterintimidation" or "newblackspanthers" and scroll back to 2009 and 2010 articles for a case where Holders's DOJ ignored the law and dismissed a case that J. Christian Adams and others were prosecuting, it was a sure win for the DOJ until Holder chose to dismiss it.
