Earth’s magnetic pole is on the move, fast. And we don’t know why

Earth’s magnetic field is what allows us to exist. It deflects harmful radiation. It keeps our water and atmosphere in place. But now it’s acting up — and nobody knows why. Planet Earth is alive. Deep beneath its skin, its life blood — rivers of molten iron — pulse around its core. And this mobile iron is what generates the magnetic field that causes auroras — and keeps us alive.

But, according to the science journal Nature, something strange is going on deep down below.

It’s causing the magnetic North Pole to ‘skitter’ away from Canada, towards Siberia.

“The magnetic pole is moving so quickly that it has forced the world’s geomagnetism experts into a rare move,” Nature reports...

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes into the shadow of the Earth, which causes the usually bright Moon to turn a dark, ominous red (giving the eclipsed Moon the nickname ”Blood Moon”).

"Liquid churning in Earth’s core generates most of the magnetic field, which varies over time as the deep flows change." Most of the Earth's mass is our liquid iron core.

The article also points out the the model was last updated in 2015, and they expected they would have to do the next update in 2020.

But they have to do it a bit earlier than projected, because they have a standard for variance to prevent navigational errors (the difference between true North and magnetic North), whose effect is really magnified close to the magnetic poles.

The pole is moving towards Siberia. The Russians are stealing it. Somebody tell Mueller quick.

It's not theft. Hillary Clinton sold it to them when she was Secretary of State. They wanted it to help shield the uranium she sold them too. Mueller can stand down.

article from 2013. evidently in the year 2000, the pole moved much more than average. South pole is not moving as much.
