For the first time in its history, the Marine Corps will integrate female and male platoons during boot camp.
Unlike the other services, the Marine Corps has not fully integrated women and men during recruit training. Instead, at Recruit Depot Parris Island in South Carolina, the first three battalions are all-male, while the fourth battalion is all-female.
"On January 5, 2019, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, will start their training cycle with one female platoon and five male platoons," the Marine Corps said in a statement Friday, first reported by ABC News.
While the change is not permanent, a Marine Corps spokesman told ABC News that the service "will certainly look at how the company performs in this model as we continually evaluate how we make Marines."
The Marine Corps, which has the lowest percentage of women among the services at just under 9 percent, decided to incorporate the 50 female recruits into the historically all-male battalion because the recruiting classes are typically much smaller in the winter months. The integration allowed Parris Island to not activate 4th Recruit Training Battalion staff for a single female platoon.

The better plan on incorporating day-care also.
Marine recruit platoons are NOT being gender-integrated. What is happening is that an all-female platoon is being administratively grouped within one of the "male" battalions because - at this moment - there are not enough female platoons to justify an entire separate training battalion staff.
All real training is done at the platoon level, and those remain gender-segregated.
This is just wishful thinking by leftist media types who don't know what the hell they're talking about.
Theyre not allowed to say training cycle any more.
It sounds like an all female platoon in the Third Battalion
so no mixed showers guys.
Would be interesting to read their evals.
Yeah, the prego rate is 70%.
The Marines need to be allowed to kick the a**es of the media LIB lunatics...all of them.
When I joined the Navy in 1979, I Asked where is boot camp?
They said San Diego, Chicago and Orlando.
I said where are the women at?
They said Orlando.
I said sent me there. LOL
When I arrived I asked where are the women at?
They said the only way your going to get close to a woman is to join the drill team, they practice on the same field.
I said sign me up for that LOL
Poor SAPS back in the barracks scubbing latrines with tooth brushs and there I am waggling my rifle around in front of the girls LOL
I didn't see anything about a GWQPH? Battalion.
70%? Wow!
I would guess that anything above 10% would be disruptive, and since I’ve heard about it, that maybe it was as high as 25 or 30%.
From the viewpoint of a female sailor, what’s the point of getting pregnant, anyway? Yeah, you get off the ship, but there’s easier ways to get a baby and government support. Don’t they teach basic biology and make contraceptives available?
I’m so out of touch.
Sad but true.
What could possibly go wrong?
That photo speaks volumes!
Work have their role, but not in combat!!
That’s pic is hilarious and pathetic, all at the same time. Thanks for posting +1
When I was in the Navy the brass was changing the rules of carrying a stretcher deck to deck from a 2 man job to a 4 man job. Anyone whose been on a ship, at least when I was in in the 90s, would know that you couldnt get more inefficient. I dont think it would be possible to fit 2 people side by side on a ladder. The width and the angle would make that damn near impossible. Didnt stop the femi-nazis from going ahead with the madness.
I was on the faculty at West Point when women were appointed to the Corps of Cadets. Physical requirements were adjusted to accommodate female cadets, eventually most were applied to all of the cadets, including males. It’s easy to do in a peacetime training environment. Combat experience since then have demonstrated that some of those adjustments were bad ideas, but political factors overruled the facts of combat.
Combat units adjusted themselves. In most units, female soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen will be found in positions better suited to their capabilities. More in battalion headquarters, fewer humping mortar tubes or Javelins. The same thing happened in the corporate world. The HR department is dominated by women, the Engineering Department not so much.
Another reason for Mattis to be fired; for failing to put a stop to this BS.
Very true words.
I have carried the girls packs as well. Same girls loudly proclaiming equality yet dropping out of P.T because pads got full.
But of course, half the male platoons are actually transgenders anyway.
