Anyone with half an ounce of brains immediately knew in 2009 that the Nobel Peace Prize committee was making itself look foolish for giving Barack Obama its top award even though he had only been president for about five minutes. Now the group's former secretary is admitting that the whole thing was a huge mistake.
Nobel's former secretary, Geir Lundestad, told the media that he thought giving Obama the award would spur him to great accomplishments. Instead, Obama did nothing of note over the next eight years.

Mr Lundestad, writing in his memoir, Secretary of Peace, said even Mr. Obama himself had been surprised.
"No Nobel Peace Prize ever elicited more attention than the 2009 prize to Barack Obama," Mr. Lundestad writes.
"Even many of Obama's supporters believed that the prize was a mistake," he says. "In that sense the committee didn't achieve what it had hoped for".
Lundestad that at first Obama greeted the situation with some good sense and initially said he did not even want to come pick the thing up.
But, soon enough his natural (and proper) embarrassment at being given the award for no logical reason was overcome by his arrogance and desire for personal adulation. He went and picked it up in person anyway.
Of course, Obama's detractors here in the U.S.A. widely made fun of the idiotic award.
As well they should. Obama did not deserve any "peace prize" before he had even fairly begun his first term. And eight years later, even Lundestad now admits that Obama did nothing even after two terms to deserve it.
It's about time they admit it.

So, they gave the award in the hope that Obama would live up to it? Is this from a satire site?
He may have regrets, but in the hypothetical - if he was in the exact same situation 100 times, he’d do the same thing 100 times. And, that is with prior knowledge of the repetitions.
Trump should ban this @$$hole from the US entirely. Stupidity and pathetic virtue-signaling should have consequences.
He had the same qualification of nearly every American to get the Peace Prize: he wasn’t George W. Bush. That’s it.
I didn’t know there was a Peace prize for doing nothing before doing nothing.
The Committee shouldn’t worry. Most of us already knew it was a sham Prize after Carter won it in 2002......for brokering the Nucelar Non-Proliferation Treaty with North Korea, who promptly turned around two weeks later and announced that it had Nuclear weapons. I no longer pay any attention to most of the awards, but especially the Peace Prize......after Gore won it over Mother Teresa, who died shortly thereafter. But especially when Obama won it over Irene Sendler, who had actually saved many Jewish lives during the Holocaust. Don’t ever let it be said that the Nobel Prize Committee isn’t POLITICAL!
The Nobel Peace Prize became a joke after it was awarded to the man who plotted the terrorist attacks at the Munich Olympic Games, Yasser Arafat.
Come come, they let Obama into the open border of the Nobel piece prize because they were hoping he’d do something to deserve their decision to let him cross the borderline of expectations.
I believe they gave the prize once to Yassar Arafat? It’s like an anti prize.
Did they give it to Arafat in hopes that he would quit saying one thing in English and something completely different in Arabic?

Thanks for the peace prize. Now I’m going to bomb the snot out of Libya, try to overthrow Egypt, and perpetuate a civil war in Syria. I might release a few terrorists from Gitmo for good measure.
And what did Obama wind up doing in the area of “peace?”
He started by turning Iraq on its head (admittedly, he didn’t start it)
He assassinated Khaddafy, turning Libya into a failed state
Helped launch the largest migration of people to Europe since WWII
He supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, who killed thousands of Christians, and nearly started a civil war and genocide there
He supported the growth of ISIS and the absolute destruction of Syria in the name of globalism and oil politics
He tried to pry Ukraine out of Russia’s orbit with a coup of Ukrainian Nazis, and had them start an unfinished war with Russia, thus loosing Crimea to Ukraine
Promoted a new Cold War with nuclear-armed Russia to promote Hillary Clinton and his DOJ’s failed coup-attempt against Donald Trump
Promoted from within his own DOJ racial division and domestic rioting in Ferguson, Oakland and elsewhere to push his own social and political agenda.
What else am I missing?
I was jealous back in 2009, because, the Nobel prize committee did not grant me the prize for Astrophysics were I expected to discover the time before the big bang. I didn’t get the prize, so, the time before the big bang will have to wait for somebody else to discover it.
I will also not find the cure for cancer, since, I also didn’t get the Biology Nobel prize.
BTW, and all kidding aside, Trump actually deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, since he’s done a lot more to keep and preserve the peace, than any president in recent history. But, he’s of the ‘wrong’ political persuasion, so, he’ll have to switch parties in order to get it.
This says less about Obama than it does about the Nobel Peace Prize. Its worthless, trendy symbolism. I really don’t care who gets it anymore. Idiots like this guy destroyed the brand.

It’s not shocking that these nobel idiots fawned over 0bama. What’s shocking is that even one of them admitted his idiocy. However, if you’re an idiot you’re still an idiot rather you admit or not.
